CONTAINER CODES
CRTN Carton
PCTN Palletized Carton - carton that is permanently attached to a pallet (bulk items).
CRAT Crate - wooden crate that is wirebound.
PALT Pallet - used for transporting and storing materials in a unit load.
BNDL Loose pieces that are unitized by securing together with wire, twine, banding, etc.
BAGS Pouches used for containing and unitizing small loose pieces.
PAIL Containers for the shipment of liquids usually under 10 gallons.'
DRUM Containers for the shipment of liquids 10 gallons or more (usually 55 gallons).
TOTE Tote tanks - usually used for the shipment of very large quantities of liquid.
NPRO No packaging required.
SRRK Supplier returnable rack.
SRBN Supplier returnable bin.
SRPT Supplier returnable pallet.
DEVI Proposed deviation from acceptable packaging. / MATERIAL CODES

1.  Enter the date the document was prepared.

2.  Mark appropriate box if this is a preliminary application, change to an existing application, or final revision, or proposed alternative packaging.

3.  List your name, address, supplier code, and phone number.

4.  List the name, address, and phone number of the person designated as your packaging contact.

5.  Enter the Magna Donnelly part number and description for the part being packaged, enter program name to the line before.

6.  Enter the average weight of an individual finished part that is to be shipped.

7.  If materials dictate alternative packaging, please explain why the proposed alternative was chosen.

8.  Mark the appropriate box for either expendable or returnable packaging.

9.  Enter the length, width, and height of the primary shipping container.

10.  Enter one of the container codes from the list above.

11.  If the code from number 10 is DEVI, then explain the type of container proposed.

12.  Enter the number of pieces in the primary shipping container.

13.  Select the type of material from above that best describes the composition of your package.

14.  If the material type selected in number 13 is OTHR, then describe the type ofial proposed.

15.  Enter the combined weight of the primary package and its contents.

16.  If dunnage is incorporated into the package, list all materials used.

17.  Enter the length, width, and height of the secondary container or pallet load.

18.  Use container codes from above and enter the appropriate code.

19.  If the code from number 18 is DEVI, then explain the type of container proposed.

20.  Enter the number of containers that this package/pallet will contain.

21.  Select the type of material from above that best describes the composition of the secondary package.

22.  If the material type selected in number 21 is OTHR, then describe the type of material proposed.

23.  Enter the total weight of all the packaging only. Include primary container, secondary container/pallet, dunnage, stretch wrap, etc.

24.  Enter the combined weight of the packaging and all contents.

25.  If dunnage is incorporated into the secondary package, list all materials used.

26.  Mark the appropriate box for the type of securement used.

27.  Enter the total cost per piece for packaging.

28.  Include a drawing or photograph that best illustrates the method of packaging.

29.  Any necessary comments may be included here.

30.  Sign and date this document.
