Outreach Announcement
The Bridger-Teton National Forest, at the heart of the Continental Divide in northwestern Wyoming, is seeking top-notch candidates to fill two recreation program vacancies this fall. Recreation technicians/Off-Highway Vehicle Rangers use key public contact skills to provide information regarding designated motorized routes, provide law-enforcement support, and build and install signs.
Vacant positions will be located on either the Pinedale Ranger District or the Greys River Ranger District (Afton). Seasonal housing may be available, at in-town or remote guard station locations. Work requires weekends (including Sundays) and holidays. Positions will be at the GS5 level.
About the local areas: The Bridger-Teton National Forest is home to 3 world-class Wilderness Areas, including Pinedale District’s Bridger Wilderness, all being celebrated during this 50th anniversary year of the passage of the Wilderness Act. Fabulous, lesser-known backcountry areas also exist in the non-Wilderness district of Greys River. Jackson is the largest community on the Forest, providing a western-urban atmosphere. Hunting season is extremely popular in both of the districts seeking additional fall recreation support.
Temporary 1039 Positions: These are temporary seasonal positions not to exceed 1039 hours (6 months), but in this case lasting approximately 2 months from September through October . This notification is being circulated to inform interested individuals of these current opportunities. In past years the vacancies have been advertised under Open Continuous Recruitment (OCR) bulletins that did not have closing dates. This process has changed. Applicants will now have to apply to specific Forest vacancy announcements.
· ONLY on-line applications are accepted through www.usajobs.gov.
· New applicants must create a new profile within USAJOBS.
