Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) Instructions

Access to OPAC

Go to: http://webopac.klas.com/nvtbs

You do not have to be logged in to search our catalog or see what is currently available in our Nevada Talking Book Library.

You can use the Basic or Advanced Search options to look for books by Keyword, Author, Title, Subject, or Series. Advanced Search can look up by Annotations, Book Number, or Narrator; and you can use more than one option to define the search. If you cannot find a book by Title or Author; try a Keyword search.

Access to your personal file

If you want to have the book search use your personal profile when you are not logged in, click on the checkbox by Use Patron Profile. You will be transferred to the login screen. Another way to access the login screen is to click on the Patron Information link on the left side of your screen. The Patron Login screen looks like:

Patron Login

User ID
Password

Your User ID is the first five letters of your last name followed by the first letter of your first name followed by a zero and a one. Your Password is your birth year. So, if your name is Susie Smith, born in 1958, you would enter:

User ID SmithS01

Password 1958

Exceptions:

1)  If you are sure that you entered your information correctly and it still won’t work, call us because we may have more than one person with the same last name, first initial.

2)  If your last name is less than 5 letters long, the missing letters have been replaced by a dash(s). Ex: Hoy--M01

3)  If the User ID or Password won’t work, call us and we can reset them for you.

4)  Once you have successfully logged in you can:

·  Notify us of a phone number or address change;

·  Send a book title or list to a friend;

·  Add items to your ‘basket’;

·  Edit what is in your request file;

·  Look at what is out on loan to you and when it was sent;

·  Look at what you’ve had;

·  Look at what is available right now.

Although you can request as many titles as you would like, you can only have up to four “Rush” books at a time.

There is a Help feature located on the left side of your browser that gives detailed instructions on how to use the site. The OPAC is available 24/7 and the Help feature is always turned on.
