Eige product that was particularly useful

for my work is the Gender equality index. My issue with it is that has taken me quite some time to really understand it and to be able to explain it to others conworkers, etc

o  Daiva Repečkaitė | 19/11/2015, 10:48 EET (+02:00)
You mean the way it is computed or the dimensions, or something else? It would be very interesting to know it.

o  Alexandrina Satnoianu | 19/11/2015, 10:58 EET (+02:00)
Then, should we say that out of all EIGE's areas of work you are interested in gender statistics the most? What about gender based-violence? Did you know of our online tool on administrative data sources on gbv - http://eige.europa.eu/gender-based-violence/administrative-data-sources? Here is a description of the tool - http://eige.europa.eu/gender-based-violence/eiges-studies-gender-based-violence/mapping-current-status-and-potential-administrative-data-sources-gender-based-violence-eu

Istvan, would you like to receive updates from EIGE on these areas only? Or you would like to receive as well the general EIGE newsletter?

  1. Daiva Repečkaitė | 19/11/2015, 11:13 EET (+02:00)

EIGE uses various channels to provide information about its work, and we will talk about the channels later. Now that we know your areas of interest, we would like to hear if you wish to receive information and updates about your preferred areas only.

We are raising this question having in mind a more targeted communication that would provide you with updates from EIGE specifically on your areas of work.

  1. Daiva Repečkaitė | 19/11/2015, 11:20 EET (+02:00)

[New participants] You are welcome to join the chat and present yourself and your areas of interest at any time.

  1. Daiva Repečkaitė | 19/11/2015, 11:38 EET (+02:00)

While we're happy to receive your answers to the question about targeted information at any time, let us move on to the next question.

In this part of the online discussion we are first and foremost interested in your ideas. How, in your opinion, can EIGE's communication tools be useful in your work?

  1. Istvan Deak | 19/11/2015, 11:53 EET (+02:00)

area of interest: gender stereotype, gender gap, media, education&training, decision making, ethnic minorities.

I wish to receive updates from EIGE on all areas

  1. Swedish International Liberal Center | 19/11/2015, 11:54 EET (+02:00)

My thoughts on the first and on the second topics of the discussion. We work on Gender issues with Eastern Partnership countries. For us information of “good practices” is useful, from the point of view on getting ideas and inspiration for creating new projects from successfully implemented Gender initiatives in EU member states. Larger existing data base on “good practices” would be welcomed, as well including info on successful projects internationally, especially in the Eastern Partnership countries. So, intresting topics are: gender mainstreaming, Men and gender equality and Awareness- raising.

Another piece of information would be useful, kind of basic tool kit how to include gender mainstreaming in projects not related with gender, I mean topics to be touched or examples provided, not only formal questionnaire. Maybe the form of “good practices” could work. Most useful communication chanells: on-line, and, I believe, physical events would be.

Welcome and thanks! There are many resources online waiting to be discovered. How, in your opinion, could they be promoted better? Using newsletters? Social networks?

  1. Martynas Norbutas | 19/11/2015, 11:55 EET (+02:00)

Talking about comunications tools and strategies:

So far, EIGE is a shadow of the European Parliament, which almost no one has seen before. The Agency may use the considerable opportunities to gain the attention. In order to do this the agency can use European parliament intergroup also to start the co-operation with several MEP's. The agency, together with MEP's can organize exhibitions, can show movies, and organize common conferences or hearings. Lots of MEP's are very open to all kind of ideas - because those events also contribute to MEP's reputation at the parliament and also ensure the visibility of their works. It could be win-win opportunity.

Other very important issue: the agency usually providing only statistics, but not advices for the future and conclusions which can help to understand statistics. Only the numbers do not say anything. The Agency should not focus on the provision of data for scientists, experts, but finally start to work with the public. Is it time to start talking to people? The calendars, prepared by the agency, it is nice step - but society need much more, I think.
