IMOVIE BASICS

One way to save your project

1) Once you’ve dragged your clips to the project section and edited your video, save it.

2) Go to “Share” and click on “Export Movie.”

3) Select a project name, location to save (USB, documents, etc.) and then select “medium” size.

*TO OPEN: Next time you want to use your project, click on “File” and then “Import Movie.”

Adding a video clip to your project:

1) All of your thumbnails should be in the bottom half of the screen. The clips you are using for your project will be displayed in the top half of the screen.

2) To add a clip to your project, click on the clip you want. A yellow will appear around the thumbnail. Click on and drag the box to the top portion of your screen.

3) Once your clips are in the top portion of your screen, you can edit them.

Adding a still picture/image to your project:

1) Your photo/image has to be available through IPhoto or Photobooth.

2) Click on the camera icon to the right, middle of the screen

3) Select your picture or image from the drop down menu

4) Click on it and drag it to the top portion of the screen where your final project is.

EDITING FUNCTIONS

ADDING SOUND/VOICE OVERS

1) Click on the “Microphone” icon.

2) Choose your desired settings for recording

on the pop-up screen.

3) When you’re ready to record, click on the are of the video clip you want the recording to begin at. A countdown will start off your recording.

a. The space bar acts as a stopping device.

b. A purple bar will appear under the clip for your recording.

4) To edit your sound bites (volume, fading, etc.), click on the “Speaker” icon.

VISUAL ADJUSTMENTS

1) Click on the “Timer” icon.

2) A pop-up will appear with all of the options to adjust (tint/color, brightness, contrast, etc.)

3) Click on the clip in the final product that you want to edit before making adjustments.
