Shave to Save Wine Tasting & Auction 20 10

On behalf of the 2010 Shave to Save Committee, thank you for attending the 6th Annual Shave to Save Wine Tasting & Auction, with Emcee Ed Walker. The proceeds from this evening’s activities benefit the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge. The Hope Lodge, located in the Quality Hill neighborhood, is a home away from home for cancer patients traveling to Kansas City to receive treatment. Cancer patients and their caregivers are able to stay free of charge at the Hope Lodge for the duration of their treatment. There is no other facility of this caliber in the area.

This is the 9th year for the Shave to Save event which will be held at The Midland Theater on May 6, 2010. Cheer on local corporate and community leaders as they shave their heads in support of the American Cancer Society’s Kansas City Hope Lodge. NBC Action News Chief Meteorologist and cancer survivor Gary Lezak hosts this unique and inspiring event so make your reservations today.

The Wine Tasting & Auction is a pre-Shave celebration to honor our 2010 Shavees who are going bald at the Shave to Save event in May to support the fight against cancer.

Thank you so much for your support and we hope you have a wonderful evening with us!

Ed Walker

20 10 Shave to Save Wine & Auction Event Emcee

Ed Walker is the newest member of the Star 102 staff. Ed Walker loves Kansas City! So much so that he often refers to it as his “hometown”. Ed’s been all over the country, from Hawai’i to New York, but when the opportunity to be back in Kansas City became available, he took it!

Ed lives in Gladstone with his wife Jennifer, who truly is a Kansas City-area native. Ed has four children that are the lights of his life: Bella, Alaena, Max and Kim. Ed’s a “do it yourselfer”, and likes to work around the house. He also likes to get out on two wheels when the weather permits, and you may see him tooling around on his motorcycle in the Northland on a nice day. Back at home, the animals almost outnumber the humans! A dog, three cats, and a hamster round out the zoo! If you like to bowl, you might find Ed out on the weekend taking to the lanes with his family. And no self-respecting KC “native” would be caught dead without a decent grill, and Ed’s family is no exception! Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall, it doesn’t matter…you can find that grill going almost year ‘round! Catch Ed every weekday during your ride to work with Christy Campo from 6 to 9am.

Ed was excited to emcee and participate in the American Cancer Society’s 2010 Shave to Save Wine & Auction event to benefit the Hope Lodge. He has been personally touched by cancer in his family, and this opportunity gives Ed the chance to join the Society in fighting this disease. This will be the second year for Ed to be a part of Shave to Save.
