Artwork submitted should focus on the theme “Your Nomination for our National Fossil.” Keep in mind that fossils include the remains of plants and animals. Where or how might you find a fossil? Do any fossils have special meaning to the Unites States of America? What fascinates you the most about fossils? How would you help others to enjoy and learn about fossils? What fossil would you be proud to say came from your homeland?
Who can enter? Three age groups will be judged: 8 and under, 9-13, and 14-18.
Your work must be an original two-dimensional piece (photographs, sketches, paintings, watercolors, etc) no larger than 20 inches on the longest side. Please attach your name, age and phone number to the piece and include this entry form with your submission.
Deadline is 5:00 PM on October 8, 2013. Winners will be announced Saturday, October 19 at the Fall Fossil Festival at the Waco Mammoth Site.
Judging will be done by a local artist and teacher and will be based on presentation, quality, originality, creativity, and relevance to the theme. Prizes may include certificates, novelty items and reproduction in publications.
