• Egyptian writing that was carved in stone.
• The symbols were pictures of objects
Rosetta Stone (VIDEO in PPT)
• Written in about 196BC
• Stone block that shows hieroglyphics
• Founded in 1799 by a French soldier
• After lots of studying, we now know how to read hieroglyphics
Papyrus
• Paper used by Egyptians
• Egyptians would take a plant and cut it into thin strips
• They would then lay the strips flat and weave them to form paper
Students will watch 2 videos: One shows how ancient Egyptians made papyrus and how modern day paper is made.
