New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU) is seeking a proven financial leader who is committed to making a difference in the lives of college students at an historic New Mexico University. NMHU is an open admissions university with over 70% Hispanic, Native American, or African American students and nearly 40% studying at the master’s degree level. Federally recognized as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), the university is committed to student success and improved retention and graduation rates. NMHU serves approximately 2,200 undergraduate and graduate students at the main campus in Las Vegas, NM (one hour northeast of Santa Fe) and another 1,300 students at centers in Rio Rancho, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Espanola, and Farmington. The university enrolls students from 42 states, 19 tribes, and 35 foreign countries.

We invite qualified candidates to apply for the Senior Level position of Director of Financial Aid. Under the direction of the Vice President of for Strategic Enrollment Management, the Director of Financial Aid will oversee the planning and direction of all activities as related to student aid, maintaining the integrity of the federal programs adhering to regulations and ensuring compliance. The qualified candidate is responsible for developing policies, procedures and objectives in accordance with state and federal financial aid guidelines and university policy. The Director of Financial Aid will foster and implement the overall operations of the student financial aid program which provides financial assistance to students.

Mandatory Qualifications:

Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree.

Minimum 4 years' work experience in student financial aid.

Minimum 4 years' experience directly supervising staff.

Expert knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations.

Comprehensive knowledge of the undergraduate admission process.
