Subject: Job Description for Entry Level Computer Scientist or Computer Engineer

The CDCS and ERDDS Projects require a full time entry level Computer Scientist. The new hire will be a Federal Government Employee working for the Department of the Navy. The starting salary for an entry level Computer Scientist with a B.S. degree is approximately $60,000. The starting salary for an entry level graduate student with an M.S. degree is approximately $65,000.

The following are direct qualifications that a potential employee must have:

1) B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.

2) Familiar with C/C++ Object-Oriented Programming.

3) Experience in programming graphical user-friendly human-machine interfaces.

4) Experience in programming back-end controller and/or data mining processes.

5) Ability to troubleshoot complex computing systems.

6) Ability and willingness to travel aboard Naval Ships and to foreign countries.

7) Ability to communicate, work in a team environment, and interface with active military personnel.

8) Must be a US Citizen.

9) Must be able to obtain a security clearance.

The following are desired qualification for a potential employee:

1) Programming real-time operating systems and FPGA.

2) Digital signal processing.

3) Printed Circuit Card design and test.

Other qualifications that will be considered:

1) Familiar with QT Integrated Development Environment, Visual Studios, MatLab, and GIT version control system.

2) Familiar with VXWorks.

3) Familiar with Linux and Windows OS.

NSWCDD is located in Dahlgren, VA. It is a located in what locals call the “Northern Neck” along the Potomac River. The surrounding area provides a rural country and farming living style. There are many outdoor opportunities within a half hours drive, including hiking, fishing, & boating. By road, Dahlgren is 30 miles east of Fredericksburg, VA, 70 miles north of Richmond, VA, and 60 miles south of Washington D.C.
