Events-Focused Positions

Events Coordinators-These coordinators will work directly with the Events Assistant Grand Pooba with the facilitation and execution of Hobo Week Events.

Parade-Focused Positions

Dignitaries Coordinator-Focus area: Dignitaries across the state, such as incumbent political leaders, Brookings Board of Education, famous South Dakotans, etc.

Bands Coordinator- Focus Area: High School Marching Bands. Will work to continue the success of recent years with high school band involvement in the Hobo Day Parade and Field Show Competition.

Transportation Coordinator- Focus area: Transportation. Liaison between various parade coordinators and local car dealerships to ensure enough vehicles for the parade.

Security Coordinator-Focus Area: Security for parade. Will be responsible for the planning and managing of all security aspects before and during the parade.

Special Entries & Animals Coordinator-Two focus areas:Special Entries (Parade entries not affiliated with dignitaries OR student organizations)Animals: Horses, pigs, sheep, miniature donkeys – you get it

Floats Coordinator-Focus area: Parade Floats. This individual will be the liaison between student organizations as they develop their parade floats and Hobomobiles, as well as a facilitator of the Fantastic Floats Program.

Marketing & Promotional Focused Positions

Media coordinator:

  • Works with Assistant/Grand Pooba to decide what media outlets to spend budget on
  • Works with University Marketing & Communications to update/create video ad
  • Photographs events and activities throughout Hobo Week and Day
  • Decides which Facebook posts should be sponsored ads
  • Orders promotional items

Relations coordinator:

  • Plans service projects/volunteer opportunities
  • Coordinates the Bumbassador program and facilitates all communication with the Bumbassadors
  • Coordinates presentations to 109 classes and other groups
  • Schedules committee members for tabling and presentations
  • Creates hand-out materials for tabling/presentations
