Money advice – The Money Advice Service

Ashley: Do you feel there’s enough help out there for young people when it comes to money?

Kevin: No; I’d like to see a lot more websites helping teenagers.

Robyn: There are not enough places out there than you can go to for advice. But definitely make the most of the ones that you do have.

Tiernan: There should be a lot more advice on how to spend your money, and how to save it and budget it.

Jamila: The internet, first of all. There’s a lot of advice and a lot of help around if you needed it.

Ashley: It’s really hard sometimes. You can feel really alone, and everywhere you turn, people are telling you to buy this and buy that.

Emma: Take the control back and speak to your friends so you don’t feel so isolated. Remember, do what you want to do with your money, and not what anyone else tells you to do.

Ashley: But so many of us never seem to have enough money when we need it.

Emma: Talk things through with your friends and family, browse the internet for advice, and remember you’re not alone; there’s plenty of help out there.

Ashley: Things can get really confusing, especially when we get our first job, go to uni, or move away from home for the first time.

Emma: The top tip here is to plan ahead, think about what you really need, and what you could do without. Make sure you budget, and that way, you’ll find your money going much further.

Ashley: Being a young adult can bring with it lots of new and weird emotions.

Emma: Talk to your friends; they’re probably feeling exactly the same fears and worries as you are, so it’s much better to have it out in the open.

Ashley: Having spoken about money, does it feel good?

Jodie: Yes, I do feel good about getting it out in the open. I think a lot of young people are unsure about how to manage their money.

Tiernan: I feel like a lot of my friends are in the same situation, so you can just talk about it openly.

Alex D: I think you can talk about it with your friends, and you should. Lots of people shy away from the fact that your money is a big part of your life.

Vusa: I think it is important that we do share our issues. If we do that, then surely looking after money shouldn’t be a problem.

Ashley: There it all is; we’re starting to talk about money…

Emma: Our hopes and fears, the facts and the fiction.

Ashley: All that matters is that we’re talking about money.

Emma: Start planning together. Start talking, so we can make better choices for our future.

Ashley: After all, it’s our money, and nobody can tell us how to spend it.

Emma: But if you want some tips, techniques, budget planners, money calculators…

Ashley: Shared ideas on how to spend your money…

Emma: Check out the Money Advice Service website.
