Call to Meeting

Tim Emmert welcomed members and gave an overview of the meeting agenda.

The May minutes were recommended for approval. Motion to approve was offered and carried.

Old Business:

Wanda Feldt presented an update from the B.O.S. Steering Committee:

Pre-Applications were submitted and to date we are still waiting for comments back on those applications. Policy and procedures are going to be strictly adhered to. An application can not be submitted that has not been approved by the regional committee.

Applicants are required to update the regional committee on program progression.

It was also discussed that a policy be adopted that if a meeting is scheduled on a day of inclement weather the meeting be canceled and/or if the meeting can not be rescheduled that your absence does not count against your voting rights. Tim Emmert will create a suggested bylaw to address the issue and present it at the next meeting.

New Business:

Tim Emmert has contacted Jim Curtain and Floyd Davis in an effort to learn how to build a strong Regional Committee. He also shared information on the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency offering a series of classes on how to develop supportive housing in your community and welcomed individuals to attend.

The meeting site was put back on the table for discussion to determine what sites would be mutually acceptable and fair to the members. The decision was made to rotate the meetings between Moore and Richmond Counties with actual meeting sites to be determined.

Separately, a tentative plan was set to meet every month until December.

Sabrina Hough introduced ARMM members present who represent Sandhills Community Action Program (SCAP) and their positions.

Subrina Hough gave a thorough power point presentation on services that are offered by SCAP. The presentation was followed by a question and answer session in which members learned how to contact employees at transitional housing sites in Anson, Richmond and Moore counties. Subrina also shared the form that needs to be completed on behalf of potential transitional housing residents. It was stated that traditionally SCAP’s transitional housing allowed residents to escrow their portion of rent in a bank account to be returned to them upon their exit from the program. The program now charges a fee for residents of the transitional housing but will try and accommodate those with no means of income.

It was suggested that a volunteer come in and talk about Credit and perhaps another on Fair Housing and reasonable accommodation laws.

The next presentation will be from Sandhills Center LME for July.

There was a request that every agency bring a brochure or information about what their program offers.

Meeting Adjourned.
