I.  Discussion

South Plains Food Bank Volunteer Date: As of February 5, the volunteer roster for March 5th at SPFB was full. The next available date is May 7th. Further updates will be posted via Facebook and departmental listservs. Luke Morgan is looking into volunteering at the farm as a small group. At this time, we’ve rescheduled the Food Bank volunteer event for October 1st.

Marathon Reading:

ü  On Monday, February 15th, Kerry will take the top book choices from the Facebook poll and create a department-wide poll sent out via the listservs. Please try to get as many people as possible to vote, so we can develop some interest.

ü  The executive committee put together an initial “To Do” list for the Marathon Reading. This list will be presented at the next general meeting. At that time, volunteers will be needed to take on some of the different tasks.

Diversity Week:

ü  Diversity week is March 21-25, the week after Spring Break. The GES will be setting up a booth in the free speech area, in conjunction with the Society for Technical Communication. At this event, we plan to reveal and launch our “little free library” project, stocked with books that represent diverse voices. Book donations for the library are needed.

ü  We’d like to give out bookmarks at the Diversity Week booth. Those with letterpress training, and/or interest in letterpress, please let us know if you can help.

Upcoming Dates:

ü  Marathon Reading, April 1-2

ü  Diversity Week, March 21-25

ü  Fall Meet-and-Greet, September 15th

ü  South Plains Food Bank Volunteer Event, October 1st

Meeting adjourned at 3:05 p.m.
