1. Marsh Art House (rep by Ben)

· Need funding for a band - $3000 honorarium (modern baseball) for Apr 25

· In conjunction with WAMH

· Karen – cosponsorship?

· Seeking cosponsorship w Project Board, already cosponsored by Marsh

· ½ honorarium and fund publicity

3. APU (rep by Terry)

· Proposing 3 events in April – 1st: official spokesperson for wikileaks (travel, publicy, food, honorarium, lodging)

· Need honorarium of ~$4000 (also daughter is in the group)

· Coming in from Iceland, but don’t fund international travel

· Need 2 nights in hotel bc of the time diff, etc – lord jeff is all booked so need to be in the Marriott

· Use 500 food rule and will prob get funding from student services

· ½ honorarium and seek cosponsorship

· Hao – what are the chances of meeting someone who will fund transportation in such short timing? Meet soon?

o Already emailed them and didn’t get a response yet, but will again

· Also need a shuttle from boston – got a quote of 400, but seems high

· 2nd: Steve Olikara – CEO and founder of Millenial etc)

· Biddy’s friend – no lodging or honorarium

· Need funding for transportation, and lodging for staffer

· Staffer for his filming of travel across US

· RJ – presidents office should fund lodging

· Need food and publicity

· 3rd: Jimmy McMillan – founder of rent is too damn high party

· Need transportation, hotel, food, honorarium, publicity

· Unsure about transportation fee, but should be ~$250, will talk to him

· Lord jeff requires a 2 night minimum for the weekend

· Have reached out to pres office, student activities office, polisci, ljst offices

· For Jimmy McMillan, should halve it? Seems to show that he tried other sources and may run into contract problems but the rule?

· RJ – how many people are you waiting to hear back from about cofounding

· Tiffany – better to halve it for Jimmy McMillan

o Wasn’t sure of his availability until yesterday

· Karen – what happens if he can’t get the international transportation funding?

4. La Causa (rep by Reuben)

· Bringing in a speaker (prof from Smith College teaching latin studies) and spray paint artist

· Event is about afrolatinidad – part of caribfest week – on apr 9

· Cosponsorship? In contact w BSU and waiting to hear back from other sources (BSC, ACSU) but no nonstudent groups

· This is the first time they’re seeking funding

· Should ask CAB, Dean Fatemi for food

· Abigail - what do you think about the deadline? Should we halve the honorarium?

o RJ – should stay consistent

o Karen – should try to reach out tmrrw and go back to senate after

o Hao – should try sociology dept and other professors

o Will halve it

· Spray paint artist that will spray paint tshirts with diff Caribbean countries

· Abigail – who is providing tshirts?

o Spray paint compay is providing shirts

o Don’t usually fund giveaways, but funding a person to do giveaway

o Kat – not as much of a giveaway, more culturally related

o Tiffany – seems more purposefully

o Karen – seems more like a performance/ an art

o In this case it’s still an honorarium, so should ½ honorarium

· Have publicity for this already

5. Peer Advocates for Sexual Respect

· ConsentFest – the event will be on val quad next fri and will have diff tables concerning different events about consent and using dialogue (around 20). At beginning of event, will get a passport to do all activities and at the end will get a tshirt

· Need funding for materials for this, already sought cofounding

· A student photographer – would be nice to fund her for her work

· Hao – should email peter rooney for a student photographer

· Publicity already covered

· Motion to fund 7,0,0

6. TWLOHA (rep by Sarah)

· Hopefest – a benefit concert (a 2nd)

· Originally asked student activities since they funded it before and said that they would fund, but over spring break they ran into some troubles from student activities after receiving the actual quote

· All performers already funded, but need sound and under a time crunch (art studio need it by this Friday)

· Would need to emergency fund, but more than 250 – prefer that they wait until Tuesday about funding, but if they must know by Friday then they will have an emergency vote (realistically will be done Monday)

· If possible, preferring emergency fund

· Motion to emergency fund 7,0,0

7. BSU (rep by Andrew)

· Caribfest week – coming back about 2 events

· Contacted other sources and got $500 from Smith, so requesting $3500 for honorarium for mark joseph

· Hao – when is event? On April 5th

· Hao – is this the same day as the nomadic wax? Not under them, cosponsoring that, not their event

· Steel pan orchestra – unable to get any funding – in total is 500, need remaining 250

· May be a flight included for joseph, so may bring it back on Monday to ask for funding

8. ‘Foreign Film Screening Group’ (rep by Jacob)

· Residents in appleton have had many foreign film screening, an ‘unofficial club’

· The ray redemption 2 coming out and will be screen limited in new york, so want to request for funding for hotels and transportation there for 4

· Based on funding guidelines may be contentious

· Hao – When? Has anything been purchased? Tmrrw afternoon

o This can’t wait and haven’t purchased this yet

· Can’t fund transportation but might fund tickets for clubs to go to screenings

· Tiffany – we need to distinguish this from just a group of students going to a concert or this just being a concert

· David – main concern in publicity – could make an announcement on a fb group

· Karen – agree on tiffany’s point, but even though they’re not an official group, but they are very consistent, so in theory although it sounds like that, in practice its similar to a student group

· Hao – is it possible for this group to be part of the film society?

· RJ – need to justify this to senate (ex Amherst Flicks v Amherst Film Society)

· Would they be interested in joining film society?

o Yes, so might be interested in asking them, but would they be able to help in making this event happen

o RJ – can’t help this event, but can help long term

· David – unable to do emergency funding after the BC meeting is done? Should ask film society to use their list serve to publicize and then emergency fund after, but if its 2 rooms, then over $200 rule ($150 hotel)

o As long as fully discussed

· Hao – are they not able to return after watching the movie instead of a hotel?

o Will be there until after 11

· Karen – table this, publicize this today, come back later and possibly emergency fund this

o Abigail – setting a precedence of emergency funding outside of BC?

o Tiffany – how long a timeframe is necessary for publicity?

· Hao – would they go even without funding? No

9. WAMH (rep by Tony)

· Funding for an opener for event on Apr 12 – a rapper from NY

· Need honorarium, hotel, transportation

· Went to CAB but they didn’t want to fund it

· Want one check cut instead of getting reimbursements

· RJ – will this set event over 10,000? No, for Kalela

· Motion to fund 5,0,0

· Separate question, a performer coming in from Hartford and wanted to get a zipcar to go pick him up for event on friday

o Hao – this may be lower, but what would they do with the zipcar and might set a precedence for getting a zipcar

o Abigail – safety may be an issue

o Would be convenient for rider items

o Karen – don’t like the idea of having the car for them the entire day

o Tiffany – may set a precedence for this being for rider items – can this be held as an exception for performances and concerts

o Hao – any group could ask for this for rider items

o Motion to allow to rent a zipcar to get performer/rider items 0,5,0

10. Students for Justice in Palestine (rep by Amani)

· Event – professor from Colombia university coming to speak – need honorarium (1/2 funded by presidents office), hotel for one night on Apr 23, transportation w amtrack, publicity, food

· Sought cosponsorship from polisci and anthro dept but not funding

· Motion to fund 5,0,0

11. Men’s Ultimate Frisbee (rep by RJ)

· Need hotel rooms for a tournament next weekend – 2 teams going to 2 diff places, but these are lump sums – 8 rooms for $150 for 44 people

· Motion to fund 5,0,0

12. Green Amherst Project (rep by RJ)

· Green games – already funded publicity, but it goes week by week and different purpose, so they want another $30 – should put it in senate fund (send out as emergency senate fund)

13. Green Amherst Project (rep by Karen)

· Want to get water bottles (say Amherst on them) – get cofounding from dean fatemi, want $1200

· A giveaway, so it’d be senate fund, but may set a precedence since senate fund is maxed out also

· Hao – if senate fund is maxed out, will all things be through discretionary only if it matches the rules for discretionary

14. Amnesty International (rep by Marie)

· Apr 11 have a meeting in NY about human rights, need conference fees and hotel rooms

· Only sending 2 people there

· Motion to table 5,0,0
