Mini Project: Teach a Comma Rule to Your Classmates
You will work in groups of 3 or 4 depending on class size. Each group will be assigned one of the eight comma rules. You will need to understand your rule and then present it to the class.
You may use one of the following choices to present the information:
· Make and present a poster of your rule
o Rule written large enough and legible so that it can be read across the room
o At least four unique examples included on the poster
· Song or Rap which states the rule and gives examples
ü Must have two verses and a chorus
ü Must be performed before the class
ü Must provide a written copy
· Poem which states the rule and gives examples
ü Must contain at least three stanzas
ü Must contain four examples of figurative language such as hyperbole, metaphor, simile, personification, alliteration, assonance, and/or symbolism)
· Skit which states the rule and gives examples. Possible ideas are:
o Newscast
o Sports show
o Game show
ü Must submit a clean, legible hard copy of script
ü Must have a role for each group member/everyone actively participates…
All rules will be presented to the class. You will be graded on your presentation. Each presentation should have the following:
o The rule is stated more than once.
o The audience is able to understand the information.
o Voice projections are loud enough, so everyone can hear.
o There is no giggling and laughing, which will impede the delivery of the presentation and the audience’s ability to understand key concepts.
o Presentation lasts for a minimum of five minutes and no longer than six.
Note: All groups are required to be creative with their presentations. Each group must add an additional flare/component which reinforces the comma rule that has been assigned to your group. This is in addition to choosing one of the required tasks.
