Certification Scholarship Program

The Michiana SHRM chapter has established a scholarship program for those interested in becoming HR certified. Our goal is to assist individuals in becoming Human Resource professionals and in turn serving our community, the greater Michiana area.

Eligibility:

· Applicants must be current members of the Michiana SHRM chapter as of July 15, 2011.

· Applicants must be working in an HR related position.

· SHRM student members are not eligible for this award.

· Past scholarship winners are eligible to re-apply if they are pursuing additional certification.

Application Information:

· One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded each year for those HR professionals seeking PHR, SPHR or GPHR certification.

· Applications will be reviewed from April 1-July 15 of each year.

· Applicants must complete the attached application; provide their resume and one letter of reference for consideration.

· Applications received after July 15 will not be considered.

Selection Process:

The Michiana SHRM Board of Directors will meet annually to review applications. The scholarship recipient will be selected based upon the application, resume and recommendation. The winner will be announced at a SHRM monthly luncheon.

Additional Details:

· Money may be used to purchase the SHRM learning system, enroll in the preparation course offered at Indiana University South Bend and/or help pay the exam fees. Scholarship money will go directly to the chosen vendor for payment, not to an individual.

· Any monies not used in the purchase of these items will revert back to Michiana SHRM.

· This scholarship is a one-time award.

· If there are no preferred applicants, the scholarship will be deferred until the following year.
