ERIC REIMER JOINS UNIFIED PHYSICIAN MANAGEMENT’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Boca Raton, FL-(March 6, 2014) Unified Physician Management, LLC is pleased to announce that Eric Reimer has been added to the Board of Directors. Joining founding members, Kenneth Konsker, M.D., and John Briggs, M.D., C0-CEO’s; Allan Boshell, COO, Nav Rahemtulla, and Ravi Sarin; Mr. Reimer will round out the board. His addition to the Board will give UPM the broad healthcare and growth expertise they’ve been anticipating since bringing Ares Management, LLC on as an equity partner last summer.
The partnership with Ares gives UPM the financial wherewithal to better service and offer new opportunities to its physician base while also allowing the company growth potential beyond its current markets. Together with Ares, UPM will have the capital to bring more value to client physicians by investing in ancillary businesses such as labs, in-office mammography, ambulatory surgical centers, fertility clinics and other opportunities that enhance the OB/Gyn practice and the patient experience.
Chief Operating Officer, Allan Boshell explains, “The Ares investment and the addition of Eric to our Board will allow UPM to enter into more creative arrangements with payers such as risk-based contracts, population management incentives and other solution oriented payment approaches. All of these have upside benefits to UPM’s client physicians that otherwise would not be available”. Boshell added, “Insurance companies and health plan sponsors typically do not favor offering risk to physician organizations, many of which do not have the assets to take on such financial obligations. With Ares behind UPM, many more doors can be opened and opportunities explored which will benefit UPM’s clients.”
Additionally, the Ares partnership will allow UPM to invest in world-class talent as the company continues its growth. The addition of Mr. Reimer is just one example.
