McCormick Theological Seminary

Guest Housing

Location:

1400 East 57th Street (on the corner of Dorchester and 57th Street) in Chicago on the second floor in one of McCormick’s Residential Buildings. This is approximately five blocks from the LSTC/MTS campus.

Description:

The student guestrooms offered by McCormick Seminary are mostly single private rooms. All rooms are air-conditioned and non-smoking. Each room has a prepared bed, wardrobe, desk, lamp and a digital radio alarm clock. McCormick supplies sheets, blankets, pillows and towels, and provides fresh linens weekly.

McCormick guestrooms include a shared kitchen, dining area, common lounge, a study room and bathrooms. The kitchen is equipped with appliances (refrigerator, stove, and microwave) and includes dishes, utensils and a coffee maker. The common lounge has a television with cable, DVD and a VCR.

Cost:

The cost of a guestroom is $50 per person per night; $90 per couple per night. Payments are usually made the day of checkout. You may leave your check on the desk along with your keycard for the guest assistant to pick-up. You will need to make arrangements with the Residence Life office, located on the ground floor for cash payments. McCormick does not accept any credit cards for payment.

Phone/Computer:

You will have a phone within your room with free local calling and voicemail. To make a long distance phone call you can use your calling card (9-1-800) or call collect at 1-800-COLLECT. If you are bringing your computer, you have two choices to connect to the Internet: dial-up and High Speed Internet. Instructions for using the phone, dial-up and to access the High Speed Internet are located on the desk in each room. In order to connect to the High Speed Internet via McCormick Network, your computer must have up-to-date anti-virus software. If you do not bring your own computer, you may use the computers downstairs that are connected to the Internet. We have no available printers.

Other Amenities:

There are washing machines and dryers located in the basement. They are provided for residents and guests at no cost. You will need to bring detergent and fabric softener.

Arrival Information:

Because McCormick is generally not staffed in the evenings or on the weekends, we ask that you arrive on campus before 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday to pick up your guest keys. All guest keys will be placed at the front reception desk located at 5460 S. University Ave. (five blocks from the guest housing). If you cannot make this time, we will need to make arrangements to federal express your keys about one week in advance for a $17 charge.

Parking:

There are a limited number of unassigned parking spaces available to residents and guests of the 1400 building. You need to register your car and receive a parking sticker from the Residence Life Director or the Guest Assistants. Note: There is one handicap space reserved – you cannot park there at any time unless you have a permit to park there. Cars without stickers or parked illegally are subject to towing at the owner’s expense.
