Hours: 4/5 days per week

Volunteer role ideally for 4-5 days a week for a minimum of 3 months from November 2013

Public transport travel expenses reimbursed, subject to a weekly maximum

Job description

You will be working in our bright and friendly office, which is located in West London (close to BBC Television Centre and Westfield Shopping Centre). We are looking for a recent graduate to support the Technical Manager in meeting the Post Production requirements of Media Trust. You will gain an invaluable insight into Post Production as we deliver content to our clients and the Community Channel.

Key responsibilities

· Prepping shooting kit (including camera, lighting and sound equipment) and basic kit maintenance

· Data/render Wrangling, ensuring all tapeless media is stored appropriately before returning to the kit room

· Setting up edit projects on both AVID Media Composer, Final Cut Pro 7 and Premier Pro

· Importing or tape digitising of rushes in preparation for edits on both AVID and Final Cut Pro (including time management of this)

· Transferring rushes to DVD for logging purposes

· Exporting files into various formats from edit suites and uploading to VIMEO and FTP platforms

· Assisting the technical manager with ensuring that all client deliverables are created on time and to the correct specification

· Assisting the technical manager with ensuring that all media is consolidated at the end of each project and drives cleaned.

· DVD authoring/encoding

· DVD onbody, packaging and menu design

· DVD Duplication and tape labelling (low volume) – for both clients and our library

· Ensuring levels of blank media are maintained (DVDs and tape stock)

· Some volunteer work on shoots where appropriate

· Other duties as required

Productions is a tightly resourced team and you may be asked to carry out duties not specified in you role brief or occasionally work flexible hours if needed.

Person specification

· Knowledge of video editing software and DVD authoring desirable

· Some knowledge of camera, lighting and sound equipment desirable

· Some knowledge of graphics packages (e.g. After Effects, Motion and Photoshop) and creative flair desirable

· An interest in television programme making

· An interest in the creative use of technology

· Good computer literacy

· Commitment to learning

· Able to work with others as part of a team

· Able to manage time and priorities well

· Dependable with great attention to detail

· Excellent organisation, prioritization and time management skills

· Strong communication skills

· Proactive and helpful in approach
