A. Catalog description:

OM 398 – Internship– 1-9 s.h.

Course outline: this course is an internship and the description of the internship will vary from student to student.

Instructional Plan: internship will be verified by student, business supervisor, and faculty internship advisor. The internship will vary by number of hours worked and project to be completed by the student. A log will be kept by the student to be turned in to the faculty advisor as well as a paper detailing their internship and what concepts were used and learned during their internship with the business.

Evaluation: Will be based on the evaluation by the business supervisor midway through the internship and a final evaluation. In addition the log book and paper will be considered.

Textbooks and References: due to the nature of this course none are required.

B. Rationale

Since this is a new department and previously the OM minors were using the Business Administration internship course BUSA 398 and that course can not be used in the new department, this proposal request is to replace the BA course with this OM internship course. This course gives the students an opportunity to gain OM experience in the business realm. Business seek new graduates with work experience and our students will be very desirable as a new employee with that experience. No courses will be dropped from the minor as this is an elective.

C. There is no impact to other departments with this course.
