MEASE, Alan, MD FAAP
Developmental Pediatrician

Chief, Specialty Pediatrics Clinic

Dr. Mease is from the U.S. He received his M.D. degree (cum laude) from the University of Missouri School of Medicine (USA) in 1973 and completed his internship, residency and fellowship in Pediatrics at the Fitzsimons Army Medical Centre in Colorado and Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

During his 30 years of practicing Pediatrics, he developed a special interest in the developmental aspects of Pediatrics and published numerous papers and articles in medical literature. Since 2001, he has practiced in China at various United Family Healthcare (UFH) facilities. Under his leadership, the Department of Pediatrics has grown from a single-pediatrician practice to a large department with more than 15 full-time pediatricians. During this time, he recognized the unmet needs of infants, children and adolescents who have developmental and behavioral challenges.

In October 2011, Dr. Mease stepped down as Chairman of the Pediatrics Department to devote his attention to developing a comprehensive developmental-behavioral Pediatrics program. Dr. Mease now devotes his time to exclusively seeing infants, children and adolescents with a wide range of developmental and behavioral concerns and conditions.

"Developmental-behavioral Pediatrics is a relatively new sub-specialty of Pediatrics, which has be only recently been officially recognized in the U.S. Although there is great need, there are only a few fragmentary resources available to children and families in Beijing. The latest developments in neuroscience provide evidence that early detection and intervention can benefit these children in significant ways. ” -Dr. Alan Mease
