ISAT NIGHTS
Lots of requests for ISAT Night results. Below is a compiled list of
suggestions from fellow administrators:
Try http://iirc.niu.edu <http://iirc.niu.edu/> under the "what students
should know" section as well as classroom resource section. It has a parent
component
EIU students need educational activities and may be able to assist schools
nearby their university. Try a college near you. They may be able to send
bodies to help
Advertise, advertise, advertise
Door prizes and food must be made available
One school personally called every parent to invite them
One school had all teachers contact parents individually to invite them
Use Schoolreach or another automated phone system to invite parents to the
event
Put info on school sign outdoors
Have a "countdown" to ISAT board for all students and parents to see
Have a raffle to give away Wal-Mart or bookstore gift cards
Have a take home packet of practice tests available for parents to take home
Use PTO/PTA for help with food, etc.
Make a place for students to "play" while parents watch PowerPoint about
detailed info
Use Study Island examples and let parents take a practice test on it
Provide a full meal for them like chili and dessert
Give out flyers telling which grade takes test and show graph of what tests
each grade takes
Let parents take a sample test from something like Buckle Down test prep
booklets
