Linking Multiple Email Accounts in Gmail

Easy Maintenance J

The following are instructions so that you can manage multiple gmail email accounts efficiently in ONE account.

STEP 1: Log into your MAIN gmail account.

STEP 2: Click on the “Settings” link at the top right

STEP 3: On the settings page, click on the “Accounts” link.

STEP 4: Under “Send mail as:” click add another email address and add your other gmail addresses. You’ll have to do this one at a time. TIP: You can either have it set for you to reply with the email address that is being sent, or always reply with your main/ default email address. If it does not allow you to do this first, then skip to page 6.

STEP 5: Fill out this box by placing the From Name you want to appear and the email address. Click “Next Step” (if you want a different “reply-to” address, then click on that link)

STEP 6: When you add an email account, you’ll have to verify the email account. Click the “Send Verification”

STEP 7: Check your email account and click the link or enter the code that is provided in the email. Then follow the rest of steps

STEP 8: Next you want to add the email address so that you can actually receive the emails from your other email accounts.

STEP 9: On the “Accounts” screen under Settings, go the “Get mail from other accounts” section. Click on the “Add another mail account.” IMPORTANT: The settings have to be set in your email accounts to allow email forwarding and pop/imap. To do this, click on the Forwarding and POP/IMAP link in your gmail account under Settings, make sure the POP download and IMAP is enabled.

STEP 10: This box will pop up once you click on the link to add an email address. Fill out the form by entering in the gmail email address. Please pay attention to the note above to see how many more accounts you can add. Then click “Next Step”.

STEP 11: On this screen you will need to add your username for your gmail account and password. For yahoo accounts, you have to be a plus member (paying email account holder) in order to be able to use this feature with gmail. You can check the box to “Label incoming messages” with that email address so that you know which messages are from which email account. Or if you click the drop down box, you can make your own label for it. For example, Yahoo Advertising Account could be the label. To keep it simple, I just leave it with the email address.

The yellow arrow is pointing to the label that will be created by gmail when you click that box. VERY useful!

STEP 12: You will get this message if you try adding a yahoo account that is a free account or with any other provider like hotmail, etc. Some other free ones do allow you to do this. The best thing to do is have multiple gmail email accounts and manage them all through one J

STEP 13: Adding another gmail account should look more like this. Fill in the information. Make sure you click the “Label incoming messages.” Check the boxes correctly. Click “Add Account.”

STEP 14: It is recommended that you click “Yes” if you want to be able to send mail from one account as the other accounts. Then click “Next Step.” But if you click “No,” you can change it later. Then just click Finished! J

STEP 15: If you clicked yes, then the next box will pop up (see page 12)

STEP 16: You will need to fill in the “Name” for the “From” and follow the steps all the way to the end J
