LifeSize Express 220 – Quick Configuration Guide

1. Configure your network settings. You have two options:

a. Network port in the room where you are going to be that connects outside the firewall to the public Internet.

i. Public IP address

ii. Subnet mask

iii. Gateway

b. Configure a port inside network

i. Static IP assigned internal address connected to an external address

ii. Subnet mask

iii. Gateway

iv. Add a firewall rule allowing any IP traffic from any host to the statically assigned IP (see a)

2. Have the above information available to configure your VC unit.

3. Setup the videoconferencing equipment. Once powered on, you will see the main LifeSize screen.

4. Using the remote control, hit the blue button.

5. Using the remote control arrow buttons, select “Admin Preferences”

6. Select “Network”

7. Select “General”

8. Change the starred fields with your information. The parentheses denote default settings.

*DHCP: Select Disable

*IP Address: (no default) i

*Subnet Mask: (255.255.255.0) ii

*Default Gateway: (no default) iii

Hostname: (LifeSize)

DNS Servers: (no default)

Name Search Domains: (no default)

Network Speed: (Auto)

VLAN Tag: (no default)

NTP Server Hostname: (no default)

802.1x Authentication: (Disabled)

IPv6: (Disabled)

IPv6 Configuration: (Auto)

IPv6 Address: (no default)

IPv6 Router: (no default)

9. Hit the red button on remote control to go back a screen level.

10. Select “NAT”

11. You have two options depending on how you configured your system:

a. For configuration a, uncheck NAT and leave the public IP address blank.

b. For configuration b, check the NAT box and enter your public (external) IP.

12. Use the red button to back out to the main screen.

NOTE: There is a remote control button legend across the bottom of the screen is a remote control legend.

The remote control censor is on the camera, not the codec.

Making a Call

1. Using the remote control arrows, select “Video Call” button. A pop-up window will appear to enter the IP address.

2. Using the remote control, enter the IP.

3. Hit the “Call” button on the top of the remote.

4. Some test IPs-

a. VTC Callback – will test the connection both ways by calling back – 71.14.2.158

b. Hamster (not too reliable) – 207.114.244.82

c. BCIU – Please contact us to arrange a test time – 76.74.73.69
