Levels of Marine Animal Organization

1. Make a flipbook with 4 sheets of printer paper. You can also use colored paper if you prefer.

2. The top should be titled Levels of Organization. Put you name and period on the very back of the flipbook

3. Label each of the pages as follows: page 1-Sponges, page 2-Cnidarians, page 3-Worms, page 4-Molluscs, page 5-Marine Arthropods, page 6-Echinoderms, page 7-Hemichordates (the missing links)

4. Information on each section must include: How the animals in each level are organized meaning: organized on the cellular, tissue, organ or organ systems level (for sponges include the different types of cells and their function), respiration (how the animals takes in oxygen and release carbon dioxide), digestion (how does the animal obtain nutrition and excrete waste products), reproduction (asexual, sexual), locomotion (how do they move-do they move?), defense. Do not write the above information in paragraph form. Please create sections for each requirement.

5. Color and creativity matters, neatness and clarity matters.

6. You will be working on this during the entire invertebrate section of the class. As an example when we discuss sponges you will be given class time to work on the sponge section of the flipbook. There will be check in periodically during this time. The exceptions are the worms and hemichordates – we won’t be covering these in class. Your flipbook should be finished at about the same time as when the class finishes invertebrates.
