THANKSGIVING BUDGET ASSIGNMENT

For today’s’ activity you will be creating a budget for your family Thanksgiving dinner. You will do the activity in spreadsheet format. Following are the instructions for the assignment.

1.  Start by placing your name and the title of the spreadsheet “Thanksgiving Dinner” at the top of your worksheet.

2.  In column “A” make a list of all the items you would need to purchase for a Thanksgiving dinner to feed your family. You must have at least 20 items. Make sure you give the column an appropriate title.

3.  Next in column “B” make a list of what you estimate the price will be for each item. In column “C” you will list the Quantity of each item needed. For column “D” you will need to do a formula, which multiplies the estimated price and the quantity needed, therefore producing a total estimate for the meal at the bottom of the Column. (=estprice*quantity OR =b3*c3)

4.  You will need to find the actual price for each item from newspaper ads and place these prices in column “E.” Then take the quantity of each item in column “C” and place it in column “F” (use the copy command). Then in column “G” you will need formulas to come up with the actual cost of the dinner. Make sure at the bottom of the column you give a meal total. (=actprice*quantity OR =e3*f3) **Note that the actual price may be different because of the newspaper ads.

5.  For the final step create a formula, which shows the difference from; your estimated meal price and the actual meal price. (=Estimated –actual OR actual – estimated)

6.  Make it look nice with lines and text (change font and size of title, etc.)

7.  Save as T-budget

8.  Print preview and then print make it fit on one page.

9.  Print the formulas. CTRL and ~
