Lab3: Getting Started with Microsoft Office 2010

Assignments:

You don’t have to print out your work in any of the following assignments. Save your work as instructed below and show it to your lab instructor before your leave.

1. You need to download a file which will be used for your assignments.

- Create a Data Files folder and a Lab 3 folder in your J:¥CSE 1301 folder

- Run the Internet Explorer program.

- Type http://biomecis.uta.edu/~dkim/cse1301/labs/data.exe in your web browser's address box, then press [Enter].

- Click the Run button.

- When you see a security warning dialog box as Figure 1 shows, click the Run button

- You will see the WinZip Self-Extractor dialog box as Figure 2 shows Click the Browse button and select J:\CSE1301\Data Files folder. Then, click the Unzip button then click the OK button, then click the Close button.

2. Read the text book pages page OFFICE 2 ~15, and follow every step.

- Step 2 & 3 on Page Office 10: In your J:\CSE1301\Data Files\Office Unit A folder, there should be a OFFICE A-1.xlsx . That is the file you need for this assignment.

3. Creating a simple weather document with Excel 2010

Step 1: Go to the http://www.weather.com, and find 10 days weather forecast for Arlington, Texas.

Step 2: Execute the Excel program.

Step 3: Key in the information of the 10 days weather forecast for Arlington in the table as Figure 3 shows.

Step 4: Select data by dragging a rectangle from A1 to C11 as Figure 4 shows.

Step 5: Click the Insert menu, then click the Line Chart (Figure 5). Then click the Line with Markers Chart (Figure 6).

Step 6: Save your Excel file in the folder “J:\cse1301\Lab3\” as “weather.xlsx”.

4. Creating simple weather document with Word 2010

Step 1: Execute the Microsoft Word.

Step 2: Create document like a following format (Figure 6)

Step 3: Open the Excel document “weather.xlsx” you did in assignment 1. Use your mouse to do a “Right click” on the chart, then click Copy.

Step 4: Paste the copied chart on your Word document as Figure 8 shows.

Step 5: Save your Word document file in the folder “J:\cse1301\Lab3” as “weather.docx”.
