Krewe of Boo Announces 2017 Grand Marshals

The official New Orleans Halloween parade The KREWE OF BOO! rolls through the French Quarter on Saturday October 21st. Celebrity Grand Marshals are WWE® Superstars The Miz® and Maryse™, Saints sports legend Bobby Hebert “The Cajun Cannon” will ride as a special guest, and the Celebrity King is none other than "Mr. Mardi Gras," Blaine Kern. While the krewe is celebrating its 10th anniversary, Blaine Kern is celebrating his 90th Birthday!

WWE Superstar The Miz is the current WWE Intercontinental Champion and a former WWE Champion, winning the most illustrious prize in sports-entertainment in 2010. The Miz’s wife, Maryse, is one of the top female Superstars in WWE and a former Women’s Champion. With WrestleMania® 34 returning to New Orleans this April, WWE’s participation in the Krewe of Boo is their first of many WrestleMania activations as part of the city’s Tricentennial celebration. “We are excited to welcome back WWE for the return of WrestleMania, and are thrilled to have helped marry these two great partners,” said Sam Joffray of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, who’s organization is leading the WrestleMania Host Committee. “The Krewe of Boo and WWE are both excellent ambassadors of the New Orleans brand, and we couldn’t think of a more exciting way to kickoff the road to WrestleMania 34.”

No tricks, but lots of treats on October 21st! The KREWE OF BOO! will again seek to reduce parade waste that ends up in landfills by throwing New Orleans-made food items and local collectible objects that parade goers will want to consume or keep as mementos.

The excitement begins even before the parade, as the Krewe is hosting the first-ever New Orleans Zombie Run at 9 a.m. Participants can come dressed as a Zombie or their favorite monster. The lovely Big Easy Rollergirls will be Zombie Killers. The 2-mile race starts at Generations Hall and ends on Frenchmen Street for the zany Frenchmen Festival. Frenchmen Festival is free and open to the public. The pre-parade party will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and features local musical performers.

The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Elysian Fields Ave. and Decatur St. and will roll through the very heart of the French Quarter, ending at Generations Hall for the Monster Mash. The Monster Mash is a ticketed costume event at Generations Hall, featuring 80's band A Flock of Seagulls and local DJs. Food and drink will be available for purchase.
