Principal’s Message

What a fantastic month March turned out to be. We would like to congratulate the Senior Girls on their gold medal at Hoopla. Thanks to Gene, Jenna and Paula for all that they do and thank you to the dedication of all the parents and supporters of our Sr. Girls Basketball team. Way to go!

I would also like to take a moment on behalf of the staff, students and SCC for everyone that attended our first ever Learning Expo. We had such a great night and our students did us proud as they led a variety of presentations that highlighted their learning. Thanks to everyone that attended, assisted in organizing and a huge thank you to our SCC for helping make this happen. There are too many thank-you’s to share but I do want to give a shout out the CO-OP for their continued support of our school in multiples ways.

Over the next two weeks we will be assisting senior students in ensuring that their course loads stay on pace as we approach the end of the year. Easter is a great opportunity for some students to get back on pace if they are behind where they should be in courses. There is not much school when we return from Easter and May and June are always chalk full of other events and activities.

On behalf of the school we hope that all families have a relaxing and restful break full of quality family time.

Greg McJannet

Spring has Sprung…finally

…and along with it mud & plenty of puddles. Splash pants and even an extra change of pants and socks tucked into the bottom of a backpack may be a good idea if puddles start “jumping at students”.

Annual General Meeting

The School Community Council’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the school at 7:00 p.m. Parents and community members are encouraged to attend.

Break a Leg!!

Students from the Kenaston School of Dance are competing at various dance competitions. We wish you well and congratulate you on your placing.

Guest Author:

Kenaston School welcomes author Kevin Miller on Thursday, April 13 for an author reading.

On April 26, we welcome “Munsch Mania” to our school for a puppet presentation to the K – 4’s based on six books of Robert Munsch. This troupe comes to us with the generosity of Wheatland Regional Library. Students from K - 4 from Hanley School are also invited.

The Sr. Girls basketball team ended their season with a championship win at HOOPLA in Regina. To advance to the final, the team beat the Lake Lenore Lancers in the semi final on Friday the 24th. The score was 62-42. The next day, the Kodiaks played the three-time defending champs - The Middle Lake Avengers. After a hard-fought battle, Kenaston came out on top, 53-47. The game was very close, and with less than a minute left, the Avengers were only down by 3 points. But, the Kodiaks scored 9 foul shots at the end of the game, which ultimately made the difference.

Thanks to all the fans that came out to Regina. The atmosphere in the gym was awesome, and with such a close championship game, the cheering crowd might have been the boost the girls needed to bring home the gold!

The HOOPLA championship winning team included:

Alyssa Evashenko, Ann Ulmer, Kylee Evans, Rachael Matovich, Jessica Zdunich, Morgan Taylor, Calina Evans, Leah Libke, Eve Matovich, Anne-Marie Collins, and coaches Gene Zdunich and Mrs. Fisher.

Badminton has started for both Junior and Senior levels. Mr. Genereaux from the DLC is coaching the Juniors and Mr. McJannet is coaching the Seniors.
