Dear Parent/Guardian:
Welcome Back! I hope your summer was safe, exciting, and rewarding. The first day of school for students is Monday, August 22, 2011 from 7:45 a.m. – 1:55 p.m. Please ensure that your children are prompt and present everyday as we have some exciting things to share!
As we continue our focus on reading and mathematics instruction, be confident in knowing that our planning and delivery of rigorous and motivating activities will help your child(ren) to develop into critical thinkers.
Our 25 Book Campaign is one component that reinforces the importance of improved skills in literacy. Research has shown that students that read about one million words (approximately 25-30 books a year) develop vocabulary, improve their fluency, and increase their reading proficiency dramatically. Another school-wide activity is the Principal’s Book of the Month. During each month I will select and introduce a book that contains a valuable lesson for children. Information will be sent to parents/guardians identifying the book choice, giving a summary of the book, and explaining why I think the book should be shared with children everywhere. Every student participates by reading and/or discussing the book then completing an activity which helps them to express their feelings about the text and/or the author’s message. Students also compare different types of literature and different authors in order to develop their skills as critics.
We are pleased to welcome new and returning families and we look forward to strengthening our partnership this school year. Parental involvement will always remain important for the success of our students. We hope that throughout the school year you monitor and work with your child(ren) and know that your involvement is vital to their success.
Pre Kindergarten and Kindergarten orientation will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. in the cafeteria. You and your child(ren) will meet the teachers and learn about many of the activities that have been planned for continued success.
Additionally, mark your calendars for the Back-to-School Night scheduled for September 7th at 6:30 PM.

First Day - August 22, 2011
Students and parents will begin entering the building at 7:30 a.m. and proceed to their appropriate location. Regular school hours are from 7:45 AM to 1:55 PM. Parents may park their cars in designated parking areas only. Only on the first day will students in First grade report to the cafeteria.
Breakfast and Lunch
Breakfast will be served each day at 7:30 a.m. in the classrooms. Breakfast is free for all students. Returning students will use the same pin number from last year and students new to the school will be issued a pin number. Federal Free and Reduced Meal Applications were mailed home and will also go home during the first week of school. If a student participated in the program last school year, they will continue until September 30, 2011. A new application must be submitted and processed each year.
Meal prices: Breakfast: FREE
Lunch: Regular - $2.60 Reduced - $.40
Medication
If medication needs to be taken by your child during the school day, (prescription or non-prescription) a Medication Authorization Form obtained from the Health Aide must be completed and on file. It is very important that immunization information for all students is current for the 2011-2012 school year.

Transportation:
The computerized bus routing system used by the school system will be mailed to your home by mid August. This will include the pick up and drop off stops times. For the system to work effectively, it is critical that we have the correct address information for home. Please check with the school to update student information if you have moved.
Uniform Policy (Mandatory):
All students (Preschool – grade 6) must wear the appropriate Mandatory School uniform beginning the first day of school. The uniform consists of:
Bottoms – Navy Blue pants, jumpers, skirts, shorts, skorts
Shirts – White or light blue (dress or polo style, long or short sleeve) with a collar (T-shirts are not acceptable)
Sweater/Vest –Navy Blue (sweater or vest is optional)
Shoes – Leather: solid black; or Sneakers or Tennis shoes: solid black or solid white (no stripes or designs)
Socks: Blue or white socks or tights
Belts – Black (Baggy pants are not acceptable)

¡Dé la bienvenida detrás! Espero que su verano fuera seguro, excitación, y recompensación. El primer día de la escuela para estudiantes es el lunes, 22 de agosto de 2011 a partir de las 7h45 – a las 13h55. ¡Por favor asegure que sus niños son sin falta y presentan diario cuando tenemos algunas cosas emocionantes de compartir!
Cuando seguimos nuestro foco en lectura e instrucción de matemáticas, ser confidentes en saber que nuestra planificación y entrega de los rigurosos y motivación de actividades ayudarán a su niño (ren) a desarrollarse en pensadores críticos.
La 25 Campaña de Libro es un componente del diseño que refuerza la importancia de habilidades mejoradas en el alfabetismo. La investigación ha mostrado que los estudiantes que leen aproximadamente un millón de palabras (aproximadamente 25-30 libros por año) desarrollan el vocabulario, mejoran su fluidez, y aumentan su habilidad de lectura dramáticamente. Otro componente del diseño es el Libro del Principal de la actividad de Mes. Durante cada mes seleccionaré e introduciré un libro que contiene una lección valiosa para niños. La información será enviada a padres/guardas que identifican la opción de libro, dando a un resumen del libro, y explicando por qué pienso que el libro debería ser compartido con niños en todas partes. Cada estudiante participa leyendo y/o hablando del libro que entonces completa una actividad que les ayuda a expresar sus sentimientos sobre el texto y/o el mensaje del autor. Los estudiantes también comparan tipos diferentes de literatura y autores diferentes a fin de desarrollar sus habilidades como críticos. Los componentes del diseño Selecto de la América son construidos para unir la escuela entera en la formación de una cultura que aprecia el aprendizaje de toda la vida.
Estamos contentos dar la bienvenida a familias nuevas y que vuelven y tenemos ganas de reforzar nuestra sociedad este año escolar. La participación paternal siempre permanecerá importante para el éxito de nuestros estudiantes. Esperamos que a lo largo del año escolar usted supervise y trabajo con su niño (ren) y sepa que su participación es vital a su éxito.
Pre el Jardín de infancia y la orientación de Jardín de infancia serán sostenidos el jueves, 18 de agosto de 2011 a partir de las 9h00 – a las 10h00 en la cafetería. Usted y su niño (ren) encontrarán a los profesores y aprenderán sobre muchas de las actividades que han sido planeadas para el éxito continuado.

Primer Día - el 22 de agosto de 2011
Los estudiantes y los padres comenzarán a entrar en el edificio a las 7h30 y procederán a su posición apropiada. Las horas escolares regulares son de 7:45 de la mañana a 1:55 de la tarde. Los padres pueden aparcar sus coches en áreas de aparcamiento designadas sólo. Sólo durante el primer día van a estudiantes en el Primer informe de grado a la cafetería.
Desayuno y Almuerzo
El desayuno será servido cada día a las 7h30. El desayuno es libre para todos los estudiantes. Devolver a estudiantes usará el mismo número de alfiler a partir del año pasado y los estudiantes nuevos a la escuela serán publicados un número de alfiler. Las Aplicaciones de Comida Libres y Reducidas Federales fueron enviadas a casa y también se irán a casa durante la primera semana de la escuela. Si un estudiante participara en el programa el año escolar pasado, ellos seguirán hasta el 30 de septiembre de 2011 o hasta que una nueva aplicación haya sido presentada y tratada.

Medicación
Si la medicación tiene que ser tomada por su niño durante el día escolar, (prescripción o no prescripción) una Forma de Autorización de Medicación obtenida del Ayudante de Salud debe ser completada y en el archivo. Transporte:
El sistema de encaminamiento de autobús automatizado usado por el sistema escolar será enviado a su casa a mediados de agosto. Este incluirá la elección y dejará paradas y tiempos. Para el sistema para trabajar con eficacia, es crítico que tenemos la información de dirección correcta para la casa. Por favor compruebe con la escuela para actualizar la información de estudiante si usted se ha movido.
