YMCA Camp T. Frank Soles, located in the beautiful Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania offers 263 acres, an 18 acre lake, and additional facilities. With an 80 year history, Camp Soles is the newest resident camp of the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh. We are looking for camp staff with leadership experience and a passion to positively impact the lives of children and families. Having great counselors is a vital part to the success of any camp! YMCA Camp Soles is looking for passionate staff to join us for a great 2012 summer! Our counselors have an opportunity to work in a variety of aspects of camp. Counselors can build a well-rounded summer experience and have to chance to try their hand at day camp, resident camp, and family camp. We have openings in the following positions: General Cabin Counselor, Lifeguard Cabin Counselor, Arts and Crafts Counselor, High Adventure Counselor, and Head Lifeguard. Our summer season begins in mid-June and runs through late August. Pre and Post Season work is also available.

Seasonal Male Village Director

YMCA Camp Soles, located in the beautiful Laurel Highlands of Western Pennsylvania offers 263 acres, an 18 acre lake, and tons of FUN! With a 57 year history, Camp Soles is the newest resident camp of the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh. We are looking for a camp professional with previous leadership experience to further the mission of the camp through the development and management of our summer programs. We are looking for an applicant that is flexible, mission driven, kid-friendly, approachable, and loves to laugh.

The Male Village Director will be responsible for the daily oversight of our onsite day camp, resident camp, family camp programs, and outdoor education groups. He must enjoy working and interacting with people of all types and ages, with a special emphasis on children, modeling and utilizing the important core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Applicant must possess strong communication and leadership skills, must possess a strong knowledge of a specific activity area. Previous high ropes and current lifeguarding certification preferred but not required. The individual in this position will supervise and lead a staff of 15-20 staff and 50-130 campers per week. This seasonal position requires the ability to work early May thru early September.

Part Time Swim Instructors

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

· The swim instructor is responsible for instructing all swim lesson participants

· This position is also responsible for the safety of the participant in their own class

· Work hours as scheduled which includes beginning and ending class on time; remaining after class to answer participant and/or parent questions as needed, and clean up supplies

· Instructs and evaluates students participating in swim lessons

· Submits completed report cards, skills sheets and attendance information on time

· Attends mandatory meetings and training sessions as scheduled

· Act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency

· Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.

· Attends mandatory meetings and training sessions as scheduled.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

· Knowledge of and the ability to demonstrate skills in swim lessons instruction

· Ability to demonstrate skills as required for class content and use teaching aids such as kickboards, diving rings, lifejackets, etc

· Ability to work independently and possess energy and enthusiasm

· Ability to positively interact with the general public

· Previous aquatic experience is preferred

· American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification preferred but not required

· Incumbent is required to maintain current CPR, First Aid, and AED

Description:

The Child Care School Age programs are housed in elementary schools. The Child Care Teachers are responsible for the day-to-day operations of all activities. This includes assisting with the delivery of supervision, program curriculum, interaction with parents and providing a quality experience to children with a focus on the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring. Candidates must be willing to submit to background checks.

Education/Experience Requirements:

1. Associates Degree in relevant field preferred.

2. Complete 15-hour online child care orientation within 30 days.

3. 1-2 years’ experience working with children

Work Hours:

Late afternoon hours 2:30pm to 6:30pm (Some flexibility required)

Casual Pool Substitute Child Care Teacher (II, III)

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

The Child Care Teacher is responsible for the day-to-day operations of all activities. Casual Pool Description: Casual pool child care teachers are considered substitute teachers and are not guaranteed a schedule or hours. Hours will be filled based on coverage needs due to ratio, call offs and general staffing needs. Note: Difference between part time and casual pool. Part time staff has a set number of hours per week. Casual pool substitute teachers are not guaranteed hours.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

· Must be at least 18 years of age with documentation of high school diploma/equivalent.

· Minimum of 1 year experience working with children is required.

· Must meet all requirements and be familiar with state licensing guidelines and requirements.

· Will exhibit core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.

EDUCATION:

· Must be working towards a child care development certificate (CDA) or Associate’s Degree including 3 Early Childhood Education (ECE) or School Age Child Care credits (SAC).

· Teacher Level II: Child Care Development Certificate or working towards Associate Degree including 6 Early Childhood Education credits or have 30 college credits including 12 Early Childhood Education credits.

· Teacher Level III: Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred, in Early Childhood or related field.

· Teachers will be placed on a career ladder and paid based on documented education and experience level.

WORK HOURS:

Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel from site to site. Flexible schedule required.

SALARY: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour (based on education and experience)
