Job Title : Rehabilitation Engineer

Position Description

Rehabilitation Engineer

1. Purpose: To provide assistive technology and rehabilitation engineering services that increase the awareness, availability and use of assistive technology which enhances the quality of life of people with disabilities at home, at school, at work and in the community.

2. Reports To: Director of Program Services

3. Essential Functions:

• Conduct assistive technology assessments, make appropriate recommendations and assist in obtaining assistive technology devices providing set-up and training as necessary.

• Act as both Project Coordinator for CIL Tech 2000 and facilitator of assistive technology educational and awareness building activities in ______Counties.

• Develop and maintain a CIL assistive technology resource library, both hard copy on site and relevant resources on the Internet.

• Participate in the Disability Rights and Education Team meetings.

• Complete all reports including, but not limited to: timesheets, vacation, sick leave, compensation time, leave of absence requests, activity reports and grant applications by their respective due dates.

• Complete and maintain all Consumer Services Records in compliance with the Federal Quality Assurance Standards and Indicators.

• Travel required within the regional service areas of the CIL and its satellites.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Enhance the image of the CIL in person, by telephone and in written communication.

5. Qualifications

• Personal experience with disability and /or knowledge of disability issues and the consumer/community based IL philosophy.

• Good communication skills.

• Good computer and word processing skills.

• Management, leadership and organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks, prioritize work effectively and use judgment and discretion in decision-making.

• Commitment to and ability for continuous improvement and mastery of the relevant body of knowledge related to this position.

• Masters Degree and ATP Certification preferred in Rehabilitation Engineering.
