Job Title: Concession Stand Attendant Grade-Step: 9-1

Department: Golf Course Pay Rate: $10.87/ per hour

JOB SUMMARY

This is retail sales and recreational service work in the operation and maintenance of the City of Big Spring Golf Course Concession Stand.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

· High School diploma or GED.

· Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.

· Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion one year of golf course pro shop or retail sales operations.

· Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Texas for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

· Must live within a thirty (30) minute travel time from workstation or be able to meet this requirement within six (6) months of employment.

MAJOR DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties and functions may include the following:

· Operates the Concession Stand.

· Operates and balances a cash register in an organized, efficient, safe, proper and courteous manner.

· Assists in unpacking and/or pricing of Concession Stand merchandise.

· Assists in determining and reporting golf course maintenance needs.

· Answers the telephone, provides information to callers, takes messages for staff and directs calls to appropriate person or department.

· Maintains general cleanliness Concession Stand, Pro Shop, and restrooms.

· Schedules Tee Times, receives green fees, and manages cart rentals.

· Follows all state and local health codes.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

· Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

· Knowledge of city, departmental, and safety policies and procedures.

· Knowledge of the rules and etiquette of golf.

· Knowledge of Concession Stand operations.

· Knowledge of the basic practices of retail sales and basic mathematics.

· Ability to establish and maintain courteous public relations with the patrons of the facility.

· Ability to keep simple cash receipt records.

· Ability to express self verbally.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

The Golf Course Superintendant assigns work in terms of somewhat general instructions. Completed work is reviewed for accuracy, compliance with instructions and established procedures, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

GUIDELINES

Guidelines include city and departmental policies and procedures and safety guidelines. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application.

The purpose of this position is to assist in the operation of a service facility providing golf supplies and equipment and similar articles used by golfers. Successful performance helps ensure the efficient and effective operation of the pro shop which enhances the image of the City golf course.

Contacts are typically to give or exchange information and provide services.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is typically performed while standing with intermittent sitting. The employee must occasionally lift light objects.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work is typically performed indoors.
