Educational Philosophy

I believe that each student is important and unique in his or her own way. As a future educator, it is my aspiration that students reach their full potential in my classroom setting; which will include sharing of ideas, participating, and being kind to one another. There are three main beliefs that I have to create such an atmosphere. The first is that all students can do anything if they put their mind to it, the second is that students should have fun while learning, and the third is to be respectful to everyone and all things and teach diversity to create equality.

Students will have the ability to work to their full potential in my classroom, and I hope that each student will achieve his or her personal goals. Giving students the opportunity to express their ideas and their goals may help them to reach their full potential. When students are given the opportunity for input, it motivates them to learn and to succeed in the classroom.

Creating an enjoyable environment that promotes learning is something that I believe is very important. When students are doing hands-on activities and being engaged while learning, it is intriguing to them. This helps them have passion and motivation to learn. Hands-on activities also help with self-learning and curiosity. I believe that students should use their creativity to help them learn and to answer some of their own questions. When I see students using their creativity, it reminds me to keep my mind open to anything. Self-learning is important because this is one way that students develop themselves and a high self-esteem.

Helping students to develop a respectful and equal mindset for all things and people around them happens by teaching respect, discipline, and diversity. By having a classroom set of rules and reinforcing the rules, I will teach my students to be respectful. I will model this by leadership qualities and treating all my students with respect. I believe that students are more likely to be respectful if they themselves are respected and if they see others being respectful. When discipline is enforced, students are more likely to be respectful. Teaching diversity is an important factor in student’s education as diversity becomes more prominent. It is important for students to know and understand what diversity that diversity is a good thing, and to be accepting of all people. Also, teaching them to be respectful and treat others equally may help boost their self-esteem.

Teaching creates an opportunity for me to continue learning and growing as a person. As a future educator I hope that I will make a difference in my students’ lives for the better, help them to grow as people, and share my passion for learning with them. All students should have a teacher who cares about them and fulfills their individual needs, and I will be that teacher for those students in my class. By doing this, I hope to be a great teacher, and I will strive to be the best teacher that I can be.
