POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION: / Adult education ESL coordinatorPRIMARY LOCATION: / Starnes Center / Community Education Center (Buford Hwy)
DESCRIPTION: / Coordinate activities of the ESL and EL/Civics programs throughout the service delivery area. Promote uniformity, efficiency, and excellence in assessment and intake procedures, curriculum, and instruction in full compliance with NRS, TCSG, DHS, and GPTC guidelines.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: / · Determine need and develop ESL and EL/Civics programs throughout service delivery area.
· Develop, monitor, and update curricula and materials at all sites, in accordance with TCSG ESL and EL/Civics Content Standards.
· Coordinate activities and policies for all programs, promoting standardization of procedures and equity of service delivery.
· Evaluate efficiency and effectiveness of site-specific procedures and offer expertise and direction for re-structuring as needed to optimize positive performance outcomes.
· Coordinate and annually evaluate GPTC refugee program for pre-literate learners, approximately 400 pre-NRS students who comprise a subset EL/Civics program at the Paul M. Starnes Center.
· Develop and periodically review student education plans (SEP) for ESL & EL/Civics adapted from TCSG Policy and Procedures Administrative Manual and in compliance with NRS educational functioning level descriptors.
· Oversee development of semester-based syllabi for all classes.
· Observe and evaluate classes in accordance with GPTC class observation policy.
· Develop formal student assessment programs, specific to each site, in accordance with TCSG Adult Learner Assessment Policies and Procedures Manual.
· Monitor program-wide recruitment, retention, goal-setting, and completion activities.
· Collaborate with ABE/GED Coordinator to ensure seamless transition of ESL and EL/Civics graduates to ABE/GED program.
· Monitor effectiveness of all ESL and EL/Civics programs through GALIS reports, DHS refugee database, site visits, personnel and student feedback, and additional formal and informal means, to optimize positive performance outcomes.
· Assist in planning staff development sessions with an ESL/EL-Civics/Refugee focus and facilitate site-specific staff development opportunities as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: / A Bachelor’s degree in education or related field with at least three years of experience in ESL Adult Education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: / Master’s Degree in education or related field with at least three years ESL Adult Education experience that include classroom instruction and supervision.
Experience in supervision of large Adult Education site for English Language Instruction delivery a plus.

salary/benefits: / The salary is $45,000 - $50,000 and will be based upon education, experience and other qualifications. This is a full-time position with paid state holidays; accrued annual and sick leave; and the State of Georgia Health and Flexible Benefits Program.
