POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: / EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR
NOTE: This is a Grant-Funded Position which may end March 2013
LOCATION: / Newton Campus
DESCRIPTION / Under general supervision, prepares lesson plans and teaches classroom instruction for credit courses in the Health, Public Safety, and Security Division. Instruction will include both lecture and laboratory activities and may involve Internet courses. Additional duties include advising and mentoring students; textbook selection; updating curriculum; and developing instructional materials. The faculty must possess the ability to teach all phases of the Emergency Medical Technician curriculum. The successful candidate may also be required to teach other Public Safety courses, and will report to the Division Chair.
To meet the needs of our students, the instructor will be required to teach courses during the day, evening, and weekend hours.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: / High School Diploma or GED is required.
The following current credentials in good standing are required by Georgia State Office of EMS and must be maintained during employment:
·  Licensed Georgia EMT or Paramedic (National Registry Certified)
·  AHA CPR instructor
·  Level II or III EMS instructor license ( or obtained within 6 months of hire)
All credentials must be provided for copying at the time of interview.
The candidate must possess a comprehensive knowledge of the Emergency Medical/Paramedic profession including the relationship to other professions in the medical field.
Three or more years, within the last five of full-time, in-field work experience as a EMT or Paramedic. Experience must include the competencies, skills and knowledge levels the faculty will be expected to teach.
Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communications and people skills. A flexible work schedule is necessary, as classes may be taught during day, evening, and Saturday periods.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: / Associates degree or higher from a national or regionally accredited college or university.
Licensed Georgia Paramedic (National Registry Certified)
Experience in teaching/advising/mentoring college-level students with broad, diverse backgrounds is desired. Knowledge of Angel (Learning Management System) is desirable.

Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License; maintain automobile insurance coverage; and have access to an automobile.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to operate instructional equipment and computers. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance, close, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee will travel by automobile and be exposed to changing weather conditions. The employee will be required to drive to various instructional internship facilities. The employee will work in a variety of medical environments based on clinical assignments. This position performs tasks which may involve occasional exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.
SALARY: / The salary range is $18.00 to $24.00 per hour determined by education, experience, and other qualifications.
BENEFITS: / Adjunct Faculty are temporary positions scheduled based on class needs of the college. Adjunct Faculty will generally sign assignment acknowledgements which cover a single term at a time, and employment is not guaranteed or reliable. Adjunct faculty members do not received benefits and are scheduled as needed. Adjunct Faculty Work on a per-term basis, therefore future course are not assured.
