Instrument Operator (Surveying)
Michael Baker International is looking to hire motivated, energetic, and detail-oriented Instrument Operators in the Columbus, OH and Pittsburgh, PA areas (for Pittsburgh, PA location search for IRC52013; for Columbus, OH location, search for IRC52012)
Candidates will work as a one-man crew, responsible for collecting their own data using the latest in Trimble GPS and line locating equipment. They will work within a team of other Instrument Operators and Party Chiefs collecting spatial and attribute information on existing gas distribution lines using centimeter-grade Trimble GPS equipment with Optimal Ranging, Inc. and SPAR technology.
This is a great opportunity to work with survey professionals, learning survey techniques and using the latest in equipment and technology. Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Extended work schedules and possible overtime opportunities. The successful candidates will be working around the Columbus, OH and Pittsburgh, PA areas.
Requirements:
· Degree in Surveying Technology or similar discipline
· 0-2 years of experience in surveying
· Motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment
· Attention to detail and willingness to learn and excel
Preferences:
· Demonstrated hands-on experience with Trimble and SPAR equipment a plus
· Experience working on a survey crew or completion of a survey curriculum
· Possess a valid driver’s license
· Must be able to work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions and temperatures
· Able to work extended work schedules with possible overtime opportunities
· Trimble field software and field instrument familiarity is preferred.
