Installing required SAS Foundation (Base) Components for

SAS A ctivity-Based Management Solution

Revision: 7.10.16

SAS Foundation (Base SAS) can be found on “disk1”. Run the setup.exe.

A Menu will show up – you simply select “Install SAS Software” – it will require 1 time system reboot before proceeding with the rest of the install routines.

After system reboots, re-run the same setup, and you will get to the following screen:

You need to browse to the “SAS Installation Data (SID)” file location. It is basically the license file (*.txt) that was emailed to someone in your organization who is the SAS Installation Representative.

The SID email will specify what Operating System the SID file is for. For example: If you have Windows 2003 Server (as your ABM Server host), then make sure the SID file you received is not for Windows XP / NT workstations. Again this information can be found on the original SID email that SAS Contracts sent to your SAS Installation Representative.

If you do not know who the SAS Installation Representative in your organization, you can call SAS Contracts Department at 1-800-727-0025.

Once you’ve specified the correct SID/license file location, you will eventually get to the “Select Components” screen:

To install just the required components for SAS ABM, uncheck everything except:

SAS Software >> SAS 9.1 >> Base SAS

SAS Software >> SAS 9.1 >> SAS Activity-Based Costing

SAS Software >> SAS 9.1 >> SAS/ACCESS Interface to ODBC Server

SAS Software >> SAS 9.1 >> SAS/ACCESS Interface to OLE DB

SAS Software >> SAS 9.1 >> SAS/GRAPH

Optionally, if you want the ABM Server to be able to import/export in SAS dataset format (as supposed to Oracle, SQL Server or other formats), you can also check:

SAS Software >> SAS 9.1 >> SAS/SHARE

That’s pretty much it. Just follow the rest of the Install Wizard (accepting all defaults) and once the installation is done, your server has all the required SAS Foundation (Base SAS) components to generate ABM reports.

NOTE:

You need to contact SAS Contracts Department (1-800-727-0025) to obtain a replacement SID/license file if ABM Server Diagnostics returned the following error:

“The PRODNUM532 product with which ABC (2) is associated is either not licensed for your
system or the product license has expired”

You could run the Server Diagnostics from your ABM Server by going to:

Start >> Programs >> SAS >> Activity-Based Management 6.x >> Tools >> Server Diagnostics

Click on “Server Unit Tests” tab and click “Run” button.

Once you’ve obtained the valid SID/license file, apply it to your ABM Server by going to:

Start >> Programs >> SAS >> SAS 9.1 Utilities >> Renew SAS Software

You should then re-run the Server Diagnostics again and ensure the license error is no longer there.
