What is www.InformaHealthcare.com?
Informa Healthcare is consolidating more than 170 journals with a comprehensive archive service, giving pharmaceutical and healthcare professionals one central, high-quality source of information spanning the fields of medicine and pharmaceutical science.
Who is hosting the new site?
www.InformaHealthcare.com will be an Atypon-hosted platform.
Who is Atypon?
All of the journals will utilize the online content management and delivery system provided by Atypon Systems, Inc. – a platform provider for over 70 information providers including JSTOR, New England Journal of Medicine and the American Chemical Society.
What will be hosted?
All Informa Healthcare journal titles currently listed on informapharmascience.com and informaworld.com will be hosted on the new platform, www.InformaHealthcare.com.
Is informapharmascience.com moving?
The informapharmascience.com site will become part of InformaHealthcare.com. The site will maintain the same functionality, and access to content – old and new – will be available throughout the transition. Content will continue to be added to the site and links will redirect to InformaHealthcare.com in late 2009.
What is the timeline for this transition?
The site will undergo a period of dual hosting alongside Informaworld until the end of December 2009. During this time, we would encourage subscribers to begin using the new website as soon as possible to benefit from the new platform.
Why was this change implemented?
The combination of medicine and pharmaceutical science titles simplifies the customer experience in one new, easy to use, robust platform that will deliver online content and archive material from more than 170 journals.
For users, this will provide a one-stop-shop for their content. This will make the user experience more efficient as readers will be pointed from one article towards other articles of interest within the same site. With the high volume of content in multidisciplinary areas, this will enable the user to cut out several steps in their search process.
Also, the site will be host to extra supplementary material such as webcasts, podcasts and alerts. This will mean that users will need to register with fewer sites to gain access to relevant material. For administrators, the site enables similar journals, currently hosted on multiple platforms, to be managed on one platform. Usage statistics and account management activity can be performed at this one website.
What advantages does this site have for the customer?
End users tap into a comprehensive one stop-shop for content, saving valuable search time. Users will be able to search through more than 270,000 articles for relevant content.
Administrators can review online journal subscription information and download COUNTER-compliant usage data. They can set up openURL links and download an SFX-compatible holdings file. Administrators can also enter or modify IP addresses and trusted proxy servers and additional administrators can be nominated. The site can be personalised (with institution’s logo featuring on the site).
How will this change be implemented?
We aim to make this changeover as seamless as possible, and plan to do as much of the groundwork as possible for subscribers. This will include transferring all IP details from Informaworld to the new website and updating link resolvers/linkouts. We will provide clear guidelines on how to do this through email communications. We are also available to provide assistance throughout this transition.
