An experienced translator of French and Italian, specialising in legal documents, with additional experience in a wide range of translation fields. Having earned a distinction in my MA in Applied Translation, I have consistently demonstrated high-level linguistic and cultural understanding throughout my working life. I am a qualified member of the Institute of Translators and Interpreters (MITI) and regularly attend translation courses, webinars and networking events as part of my continuing professional development.

TRANSLATION EXPERIENCE

FREELANCE TRANSLATOR, Wroxham, Norfolk, UK June 2011-Present

Freelance translation, editing and proofreading for carefully selected translation agencies and direct clients.

· Experience of legal, financial, marketing, general, business, academic and technical translation.

· Able to translate 3000 words per day, as well as revise and edit at a rate of at least 1200 words per hour.

In-House Staff Translator

Specialising in translating French and Italian legal and financial documents into English.

· Independently produced high-quality, accurate translations, often from low-resolution source texts, to tight deadlines, while simultaneously contributing to wider projects within the business.

· Completed technical translations for Temple Translations’ sister company, Metalexis.

· Used Trados 2007 and WordFast CAT tools to enhance throughput and harmonise terminology.

· Mentored trainee translators, which involved recruitment and selection, proofreading all work, providing feedback, helping them to meet targets as well as being the point of contact between the trainee and HR.

· Implemented and supervised a graduate placement scheme to provide translation students with industry experience, which involved liaising with the company director, universities, and translation bodies and supervising placement students.

· Created a translators’ style guide providing practical guidance for in-house and freelance translators in order to raise quality standards.

· Gained experience and training as an operations co-ordinator, which involved performing various project management tasks.

· Before being promoted to staff translator completed a 2 year traineeship during which time work was revised and feedback was received from more experienced translators.
