PART A – SECTION SUMMARY
A.1 Executive Summary
● Section activity: A number of activities were organized during 2002 by the Nagoya Section. Total 22 events including 7 lectures in the areas of computer, communication, electric power, material development, automobile electronics and control engineering were successfully carried out. In particular as special program, we had 11 seminars for young researchers and school students.
● Membership activity: Nagoya Section has the following members: Fellow: 28, Senior Member: 29, Member: 614, Associate Member: 101, Student Member: 54, Total: 826.
● Section territory: IEEE Nagoya Section, one of the eight sections of IEEE Japan Council, is located in the city of Nagoya, central in Japan, and the section territory spreads out to Tokai Area (Aichi, Gifu, Mie, and Shizuoka Prefectures) and Hokuriku Area (Toyama, Ishikawa and Fukui Prefectures) in Japan.
A.2 Financial Report
● Total receipts during the year 2002 were JY 3,895,200 including the rebate of JY 2,712,619 2,712,463 from IEEE HQ. On the other hand, the total disbursements amount to JY 2,442,348. 2,171,323.

● Total 19 events including 11 technical lectures, conferences, training courses were carried out during 2002. In particular as special program, we had 5 seminars for young researchers and school students.

● Increasing student membership.
● Preparatory work was covered to establish the student branch in Nagoya University.

● The website of Nagoya Section has been designed and set up on the internet. It provides necessary information for the IEEE members, such as the announcement from Section and the conference/workshop news, etc.

PART C – GOALS AND PLANS
C.1 2003 Goals
● Enhancing the student activities
● Increasing the membership
● Nominations of members for Senior Member and Fellow of the Institute
● Organizing technical lectures and symposium, workshops on topics of interest, in some case as the collaboration with other institute
● Making close collaboration with other professional organizations related to Electrical Engineering and Electronics. The Nagoya Section will actively participate the 2003 Joint Convention of Institutes in Tokai Area related to Electrical, Electronics and Information Engineering held on October 2 and 3, 2003.
● Providing better services to the members
C.2 Proposed Budget
● Based on the plans being finalized, annual expenditure of IEEE Nagoya Section for 2003 is estimated to be the order of JY 4,4 3,500,000.
