Objective 2:Learn about Dalton’s atomic theory (Section 3.1)
Objective 3:Understand and describe how atomic structure is related to electricity (Section 3.2)
Objective 4: Understand and explain cathode rays and radioactivity and what these things reveled about atoms (Section 3.2)
Objective 5:Learn about Rutherford’s alpha-scattering experiment and how it helped understand the nucleus (Section 3.2)
Objective 6:Name and describe the three subatomic particles in an atom (Section 3.3)

Objective 8: Understand and define isotopes and atomic mass (Section 3.3)
Objective 9: Describe the changes that accompany nuclear reactions and radioactivity (Section 3.4)

Assignments:

1.  Read Chapter 3 and use section reviews and practice problems to check your understanding.

2.  Read over Note sheets (ns)*

3.  Practice problems (p)*

4.  Complete Graded problems (will announce due date in class)

5.  Labs: TBA

* most note sheets and practice problems are separate and will be labeled either (ns) or (p) but on occasion some note sheets and practice sheets are combined. If so you will see (ns-p) at top of page.
