ASSIGNMENTS:
·  Work on completing Nature vs. Nurture part of your study guide using your textbook pg. 69-72 for tomorrow.
·  Continue working on completing your Brain Biology Study Guide– Fill in parts that you can using your book and class notes. - DUE ON TEST DAY.
TUESDAY – Intro to Psych
Warm-Up: Which part of the brain do you think is most important and why?
AGENDA:
·  Why is the Cerebral Cortex wrinkled? – Newspaper Demo
·  Differences in Male and Female Brains. A fun look.
WAYS TO STUDY THE BRAIN: - Nervous System & The Brain PowerPoint
·  Certain methods study structure while other look at function.
·  The Story of Phineas Gage (An Reenactment) – Module 25 of The Brain DVD (12:00)
·  What would have happened to Phineas if the rod had injured the motor area of his cerebral cortex or the sensory area?
·  Are there parts that if injured would have resulted in his death? If so, What are they?
NERVOUS SYSTEM DEMOS: How fast do you think?
·  How fast do we send messages through our nervous system and how long does it take us to think? Ankle Squeeze Demo.
·  Drop a Dollar Demo –
1.  Place a dollar between your thumb and middle finger.
2.  Put your index finger and thumb from your other hand as close as possible to the center of the bill without touching it.
3.  Let it go and see if you can “catch” the dollar with your index finger and thumb.
4. Now have someone else try to “catch” it with you dropping it. What happens?
·  Work on completing Nature vs. Nurture part of your study guide using your textbook for tomorrow.

WEDNESDAY – Intro to Psych
Warm-Up: What do you still have a question on for this chapter?
AGENDA:
THE LEFT & RIGHT HEMISPHERES OF YOUR BRAIN:
·  How well do your hemisphere’s communicate?
·  Sit in a chair and rotate your right foot clockwise.
·  Now look up and with your index finger in the air, rotate your right hand counter-clockwise. Observe what happens.
·  Now repeat the process but use your left hand and note the different outcome.
·  Split Brain Studies – How they work. A student demo.
·  View video clips of actual split brain patients. The Divided Brain (6:46 min) from The Brain DVD Module 5.
