C.JOB PURPOSE
TO DEVELOP SYSTEMS AND PROCESSES FOR OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY SERVICES
D. MAIN OBJECTIVES (Key performance area (KPA’s) )
MAIN OBJECTIVES / %1 / Input into formulation and the review of national and provincial legislation and ensure implementation thereof
· Input into formulation of policies, guidelines and protocols for/related to Occupational Therapy Services
· Review, evaluate and analyze existing policies/strategies/ guidelines/ Protocols related to Occupational Therapy in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
· Development of new policies/strategies/guidelines/protocols in line with service development in consultation with relevant stakeholders
· Monitor implementation of policies, guidelines and protocols related to Occupational Therapy Services at all levels of service delivery.
· Monitor and study the human resource, financial and general management frameworks of the Public Service to stay abreast of the latest developments / 40%
2 / Development and maintenance of systems and processes for the provisioning of quality Occupational therapy services.
· Ensure that quality Occupational therapy services are rendered based on guidelines and protocols.
· Consolidate Provincial occupational therapy plan in line with the Departmental strategic plan.
· Organize the Provincial occupational therapy forum.
· Situational analysis at all levels.
· Communicate with relevant stakeholders
· Monitor compliance with standard of practice and implement corrective measures.
· Maintain administrative tasks.
· Participate in the placement of Community Occupational Therapists.
· Coordinate all workgroups in Occupational Therapy. / 25%
3 / Monitor utilization of financial resources
· Ensure proper utilization of allocated financial and physical resources.
· Provide inputs into the strategic plan and business plan.
· Engage in procurement activities required.
· Ensure that stock register is maintained.
· Ensure that there is maintenance plan for therapeutic equipment in the Province. / 10%
4 / Develop and implement continuous professional development programmes.
· Determine clinical training needs.

5 / Coordinate training of students
· Liaise with relevant tertiary training institutions
· Participate in curriculum development.
· Analyze facilities appropriate for student training in consultation with Hospital managers.

· Develop annual student training plan in conjunction with training institutions. / 10%
6 / Coordinate and ensure the promotion and marketing of
Occupational Therapy services in the hospital and community
· Determine marketing campaigns according to the needs.
· Contribute to the designing, printing and distribution of relevant promotion material in line with the provincial requirements.
· Plan for career exhibition/guidance.
· Prepare and give input into health promotion.
· Organize transversal disability events
· Conduct and provide information on OT health issues for both the printed and broadcasting media. / 5%
