A. 2019 Revision of the Health Education Framework (Information)
1. State Board of Education (SBE) Action on March 9, 2017 (Information)
On March 9, 2017, the SBE took action on two recommendations from the Instructional Quality Commission (IQC) under Item 15, which was a consent-agenda item. The SBE actions were unanimous with no discussion or public comment.
The SBE approved the IQC-recommended Curriculum Framework and Evaluation Criteria Committee Guidelines for the 2019 Revision of the Health Education Framework for California Public Schools, Kindergarten Through Grade Twelve with no changes. The SBE appointed 20 members to the Health Education Curriculum Framework and Evaluation Criteria Committee (HE CFCC) as recommended by the IQC, including the appointment of Martha Adriasola-Martinez and Kimberley Walden as co-chairs.

2. HE CFCC Meeting Update (Information)
The HE CFCC will meet for the first time on May 4–5, 2017. The IQC members who attend and staff will provide an update on the meeting.
All members of the IQC are encouraged to attend a HE CFCC meeting. For future meetings, the following Commissioners expressed interest in attending on these dates:
· June 19–20, 2017—Commissioners Woo and Flores
· August 10–11, 2017—Commissioners Flores and Muller
· September 18–19, 2017—Commissioner Muller
· November 29–30, 2017—Commissioner Honig
· January 25–26, 2018—Commissioner Krishna
B. Presentation on Sexual Abuse and Sex Trafficking Prevention Education (Information)
Two of the framework writers, Jaime Gerigk, Director of Counseling and Outreach, and Brittany Bray, Training and Education Coordinator, both with WEAVE, will provide information about sexual abuse and sex trafficking in California. Information will include the prevalence of these issues, multi-level impact, and the critical role and importance of prevention and education.
