Guidelines for Daytime Extra Service

Richland faculty should not teach classes for extra service compensation during the normal workday hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. except when

- classes need to be covered in emergency situations such as when an adjunct faculty resigns at the last minute or when a new section has to be opened due to demand and a qualified adjunct cannot be found

- daytime classes become a double or triple LGI in response to unexpected enrollment demands and therefore increase the faculty member's load above 100%

- specialized courses require uniquely qualified faculty

- classes are scheduled for counselors and other faculty who work evening hours as part of their regular work schedule

- other conditions occur as approved by Dean, VPTL, and President

All Daytime extra-service contracts require the following documentation:

- rationale on a memo or written at bottom of faculty member's office schedule; must be signed to indicate approval by dean and VPTL (and President if last exception is in effect)

- revised work schedule attached to office schedule

- office schedule (and memo, if used) and revised work schedule should be submitted
