Science Year 6
Electricity
Link investigative science to Core Values – perseverance, working together and being reflective
Pupils should be taught:
·  associate the brightness of a lamp or the volume of a buzzer with the number and voltage of cells used in the circuit
·  compare and give reasons for variations in how components function, including the brightness of bulbs, the loudness of buzzers and the on/off position of switches
·  use recognised symbols when representing a simple circuit in a diagram / Computing
Link to prevent- safety, global connections, working collaboratively
Pupils should be taught:
To communicate
·  select, use and combine a variety of software (including internet services) on a range of digital devices to design and create a range of programs, systems and content that accomplish given goals, including collecting, analysing, evaluating and presenting data and information
To connect
Collaborate with others online on sites approved and moderated by teachers.
• Give examples of the risks of online communities and demonstrate knowledge of how to minimise risk and report problems.
• Understand and demonstrate knowledge that it is illegal to download copyrighted material, including music or games, without express written permission, from the copyright holder.
• Understand the effect of online comments and show responsibility and sensitivity when online.
• Understand how simple networks are set
up and used.
E-Safety
·  To understand and abide by the schools e-safety policy: appropriate to their age – ‘KS2 Think then click’
·  To understand the schools e-safety policy: appropriate to their age
·  Understand passwords are used to log in to access some web content and why these should be kept private
·  To have an awareness of copyright of images age appropriate and relevant to their use
Using the learning platform:
·  To use appropriate forms of communication to solve problems, share information or ideas
·  To present and share different types of information in different forms and show awareness of intended audience
·  Understand the need to refine the quality of their work to suit the purpose and audience
·  Understand the responsibility of publishing on the Internet in terms of personal safety, appropriateness and relevance of content
Science Year 5
Forces
Link investigative science to Core Values – perseverance, working together and being reflective
Pupils should be taught:
·  explain that unsupported objects fall towards the Earth because of the force of gravity acting between the Earth and the falling object
·  identify the effects of air resistance, water resistance and friction, that act between moving surfaces
·  recognise that some mechanisms, including levers, pulleys and gears, allow a smaller force to have a greater effect.
Design and Technology
Design and Technology (control)
Pupils should be taught:
Design
§  use research and develop design criteria to inform the design of innovative, functional, appealing products that are fit for purpose, aimed at particular individuals or groups
§  generate, develop, model and communicate their ideas through discussion, annotated sketches, cross-sectional and exploded diagrams, prototypes, pattern pieces and computer-aided design
Make link to core values – perseverance
·  understand and use electrical systems in their products [for example, series circuits incorporating switches, bulbs, buzzers and motors]
·  apply their understanding of computing to program, monitor and control their products.
To master practical skills. Electricals and electronics
Create circuits using electronics kits that employ a number of components (such as LEDs, resistors, transistors and chips).
Evaluate link to core values – reflective
§  investigate and analyse a range of existing products
§  evaluate their ideas and products against their own design criteria and consider the views of others to improve their work
understand how key events and individuals in design and technology have helped shape the world / History
Link to prevent- global connections, rights and responsibilities, living together, building community Link to core values – working together Link to British Values- Democracy and Rules of Law
Pupils should be taught about:
-  the achievements of the earliest civilizations – an overview of where and when the first civilizations appeared and a depth study of one of the following: Ancient Sumer; The Indus Valley; Ancient Egypt; The Shang Dynasty of Ancient China
Geography
Link to prevent- global connections
Pupils should be taught:
·  use maps, atlases, globes and digital/computer mapping to locate countries and describe features studied
Art and Design
link to core values – perseverance and reflective
Pupils should be taught:
To master techniques. Sculpture – Canopic Jars
·  To improve their mastery of art and design techniques, including drawing, painting and sculpture with a range of materials [for example, pencil, charcoal, paint, clay]
/ Music
Link to Core Values – independence, working together, perseverence
Pupils should be taught:
·  play and perform in solo and ensemble contexts, using their voices and playing musical instruments with increasing accuracy, fluency, control and expression
·  improvise and compose music for a range of purposes using the inter-related dimensions of music
·  listen with attention to detail and recall sounds with increasing aural memory
·  use and understand staff and other musical notations
·  appreciate and understand a wide range of high-quality live and recorded music drawn from different traditions and from great composers and musicians
·  develop an understanding of the history of music.
Physical Education
SAQ/Gymnastics/OAA
Dance/Invasion Games
Link to core values – perseverance, working together
Pupils should be taught:
·  play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
·  develop flexibility, strength, technique, control and balance [for example, through athletics and gymnastics]
·  compare their performances with previous ones and demonstrate improvement to achieve their personal best.
·  take part in outdoor and adventurous activity challenges both individually and within a team
·  perform dances using a range of movement patterns
