NOTE: A SCHEDULE OF EVENTS AND STARTING TIMES FOR YOUR UNIT WILL BE MAILED/E-MAILED on or about 18 January, 2017.

HEADGEAR: Although this is a indoor drill competition appropriate headgear is required in each drill event.

DETERMINATION OF DIVISIONS: Any team, male, female or mixed without weapons will be in the Unarmed Division. Any team male, female, or mixed, with weapons manufactured to fire live ammunition, or The Glendale 1000, M1 Replica, will be in the Armed Division.

ARMED INSPECTION

1. All units participating in the drill competition must stand inspection or receive a zero score for that event. The inspection will take place in the Ready Area of the Regulation Drill Pad with only the Drill Team standing inspection and the Team Advisor present. (No spectators are allowed in this area).

2. The inspection will consist of a minimum of 12 cadets with weapons plus the Commander of the team. The judges will visually inspect each member as indicated on the Inspection Score Sheet.

3. When the Inspection has been conducted, the Drill Team should be prepared for Regulation Drill.

4. The team standing inspection will move immediately to the regulation area. No changes in personnel will be made after the inspection.

5. Inspection is required for all teams competing in regulation drill.

6. NO ACU’s will be worn for inspection or regulation drill.

REGULATION DRILL

ARMED DIVISION

1. GENERAL: The commands attached are the drill movements required for Armed Regulation Drill. The commands are to be given in the sequence listed. The maximum time allowed for this event is 5 minutes with the time starting when the HEAD JUDGE returns the Commander’s salute. The time ends when the last member of the team exits the drill area. There is no minimum time for accomplishing the sequence. The drill field is 75 feet by 50 feet.

2. PENALTIES: For every command omitted there will be a five point penalty. For every command added there will be a five point penalty. If a team has a boundary violation there will be a 5 point penalty. If a team goes over the established time limit one (1) point will be subtracted for every second over. If a team does not have the required number of cadets, 12 plus a commander, 25 points will be subtracted for each cadet under.

3. The Drill Team Commander will report in to the Head Judge, and request permission to begin the Regulation Sequence. When the Head Judge salutes the Drill Team Commander, he or she will then give the command “Fall In”, and continue the sequence of commands. When the Drill Sequence has been completed, the Drill Team Commander will halt their unit centered on the Head Judge and report the sequences finished and request permission to exit the drill area. Should a commander fail to report out, a 15 point penalty will be assessed.

4. The uniform for Regulation will be any service approved uniform, except ACU’s.

5. No Prompt Sheets can be used commands must be committed to memory.

6. All teams competing in Regulation must go through inspection just prior to this event.

ARMED COLOR GUARD

1. GENERAL: The Color Guard will consist of a minimum of four (4) cadets. The senior cadet will carry the National Color and call the necessary commands. The command sequences will be called exactly as outlined in the Color Guard sequence. This is not Exhibition Color Guard. Any use of musical devices, whistles or other non-standard color guard equipment, will result in the disqualification of that team from this event.

2. If the National Color touches the floor during the Color Guard sequence that team will be disqualified.

3. Only Regulation Color Guard movements will be allowed (NO exhibition movements will be allowed)

4. The size of the Color Guard area is 40 by 40 feet.

5. The maximum time allowed to complete the Color Guard sequence is 5 minutes. Timing starts when the Color Guard crosses the line to enter the drill area, and stops when the unit has crossed the exit line.

6. Uncasing is part of the required sequence. The penalty for going over time is one point for each second over. If a command is added/omitted, there will be a 5 point penalty for each command. A 5 point penalty will be assessed for each out of bounds infraction.

7. The uniform for the Color Guard Competition will be any service approved uniform, except BDU’s. You may wear Drill Team Uniforms.

8. No Prompt Sheets may be used; commands must be committed to memory.

9. The Color Guard is divided into two categories: Unarmed, which includes plastic or wooden rifles not intended to fire live ammunition.

10. No team will drill in the unarmed category without weapons.

ARMED EXHIBITION DRILL

1. GENERAL: The time limits for this event are the minimum of six (5) minutes and a maximum of eight (8) minutes. The time begins when the first member of the marching unit crosses the boundary line and ends when the last of the marching unit exits the drill area.

2. NOISEMAKERS: The use of whistles, horns or any other musical or noise making devices is prohibited. The use of any of these devices will result in the disqualification of that team from that event.

3. UNIFORMS: Your team may wear any uniform that has been approved by your service or school for drill competition, except ACU’s.

4. PENALTIES: TIME: One (1) point for each second over or under the specified time.

BOUNDRY: Ten (10) points for each infraction (does not mean 10 points for each person out of bounds, but will be 10 points off each time a team touches or crosses the boundary line).

TEAM COMPOSITION: Ten (10) points for each member under the minimum. The minimum for this event is 12 plus a commander. There is no maximum number.

5. FIELD: The drill area measures 75 feet by 50 feet. You may request the Head Judge to position himself/herself at any point on the drill area.

6. REPORT IN & REPORT OUT: The Drill Team Commander must report in & out and is included as part of the time restrictions. A 5 point penalty is assessed for failure to report in/out.

7. DETERMINATION OF DIVISIONS: Any team, male, female or mixed with weapons will be in the Unarmed Division.
