George Fox Nursing Club

Established: September of 2007

Purpose: The purpose of the Nursing Club is to provide its members with an opportunity to identify with the nursing profession and to foster intellectual, educational, spiritual, and social activities related to professional nursing.

Minutes

Hand Washing in Sherwood:

- Wednesday and Thursday (January 18th and 19th) at 1:10-1:40, 1:45-2:10

- Sign up at the meeting, education afterwards

Nursing Club responsibilities for pinning

- Slide show

- Class video

- Presentation of faculty awards and/or faculty leaving

- Guest speaker (no longer faculty – maintain unity amongst colleague, possibly an alumni speaker)

- Outstanding colleague award nominations (possibly to be a student speaker).

- Decorations and/or flowers (possibly poster of pictures)

- Class gift for the department (pictures, mugs)

- Have each member of the class donate money to purchase them

- Tickets sales and distribution NOT OUR RESPONSIBILITY

- Get 4 free, purchase up to 5 additional at $5 each, and waitlist/lottery for the rest TBA by Carla

- Date of Pinning: Thursday April 26 at 6:30 pm, Rehearsal earlier in the day

- If you pass all of your classes but do not pass the comprehensive ATI, you are able to walk and be pinned

- If you do not pass a course during the spring semester, you are not allowed to walk or be pinned

Monday Feb 6th is a Senior Meeting at 10:00 am (Location TBA)

- Nursing club may be asked to present information about Pinning, nominations for outstanding colleague award, guest speaker for pinning, and what to do for faculty that are leaving

New officer elections

- Have the sophomores possibly apply for the positions if there are no members interested

- Possibly visit the Junior classes in order to present the elections and responsibility coming to them

- New officers should attend meetings by then in order to step up and get involved

- Wait to get connected with OSNA until we have new officers attending club meetings

At the nursing club meeting:

- Announce another Night Strike Event and community events at Friendsview

- Night Strike possibly January 26th; leave GFU by 6:30 pm

- Yamhill County Medical Reserve Corps for the nursing program to be called during times of disaster for medical aid and relief

- Tuesday at 6:30 pm (officers), meeting starts at 7:00 pm

Next Nursing Club meeting will be February 13th at 9:00 – 10:30
